I have used Safari for Windows as my main internet browser for at least the past 4 months and I have never had any trouble with it. Yesterday when I tried to run Safari it simply crashed, even before loading anything. I have tried re-installing it but to no avail. What can I do?
I have had the same problem from time to time. Erasing the browsing history has done it for me.
Also in the latest beta I had to erase the saved passwords. Before I did that it crashed as soon as I tried to renter a site that was in my passwordlist.
I can confirm this:
Up until 3.0.5 all "solutions" to get 3.0.4. working, failed on my system. Tried everything (must have uninstalled, cleaned and re-installed Safari a dozen times) but it ended in the same crash at startup.
This 3.0.5 however is fully functional again on my system. So for everyone having the same sort of problems (Safari crash at startup) with 3.0.4 I would strongly advise you to upgrade to 3.0.5.
I do wonder what it was they have fixed in this version. somebody knows?
This is what finally worked for me from sentio (thanks by the way 🙂 )

Try the new Safari 3.0.5 for Windows. It is published on
http://developer.apple.com site. Downloading this version requires free registration. [/quote]
You need to login with your apple id. It may ask you for more info, but after wards go to the software and downloads to find the beta version.
My Safari crashes about 10 seconds after it start. I've uninstalled, reinstalled etc. Using the latest version of Safari for PC and Windows XP home sp2 with latest updates.

I assume you use Safari 3.0.4. If yes I strongly recommend you to install the latest non-public Safari 3.0.5 from http://developer.apple.com (free registration required). This version has tons of bugs fixed.
As previously posted by others if you go to the developer section and download the safari seed 3.0.6 there are many bug fixes. Also they seemed to have found and solved the problem of crashing upon startup, I'd tried all the other fixes (uninstall, restart, reinstall, uninstall, find beta 3.0.3, install, etc) non of which worked, but the developer beta .6 works great. Hope this helps
I had this problem for a few months running Vista Ulitmate, and it was a real bummer because I'm a web designer and I was looking forward to being able to test my sites on all browsers no matter which computer I happened to be working on.
Anyhow, I got it to work by uninstalling the previous attempts, and then logging on as "Full Administrator" in Vista. The "full administrator" in Vista is not the same as the Administrator account you setup when first logging on to Vista. This is a "Super Administrator" that needs to be activated separately. I don't recommend using that account all the time because then you'll be defeating the purpose of the new security setup in Vista. If you do, you'll in effect be reverting back to XP's security, and well, we all know how THAT can go.
I can't say this will work for everyone, but after installing/re-installing Safari about 20 times using my regular account, Safari worked the first time I tried in my "Super Admin" account. And, when logging back into my regular account it works also. Woot!
well I just installed safari306a10 from the ADC site. And I still have the opening crash. So not all the bugs have been resolved. Im starting to think its Microsoft not allowing Safari to run at all. lol
