Safari crashes on opening - Safari for windows

I have used Safari for Windows as my main internet browser for at least the past 4 months and I have never had any trouble with it. Yesterday when I tried to run Safari it simply crashed, even before loading anything. I have tried re-installing it but to no avail. What can I do?

...everyone try this...i am using mac personally but in the office i use XP...wondered why it crashes after installing some add-ons...well got into this page and read a user suggesting to delete some fonts...tried it and it worked...but make sure you back up all system fonts and delete all the extras and try it...

...FYI...i installed almost a ton of fonts then restored the original system fonts...it will take me a while to discover which font is making Safari crash...

...thanks to the one who mentioned deleting the font...it answered all our anxious questions...

I just registered at ADC and downloaded version 31A2. I was having the same problems with 3.0.4 as others in that it would not start. Got the "Safari has encountered a problem and must shut down........" message. Had tried uninstall, reinstall several times with no success.

New 3.1.A2 installed fine and opens with no problems. Appears to be running fine.

The developers beta works 3.1 (525.7)
The main download is hopeless and should be removed asap.

http://www.webstandards.org/files/acid2/test.html

Fails the Acid2 test... Firefox 3 Beta is almost perfect.
And fails the beta of Acid3.

I hope this gets sorted before the release or it's just one more browser to that will be a pain for every web developer. Windows really doesn't need another pain browser.

My Safari suddenly started crashing right after starting up. I've found this thread, and so I've removed <C:\Documents and Settings\MyAccountName\Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari> and Safari managed to start ok from then on. I've then restored <\Apple Computer\Safari\URLLists\History\History> just in case, because I'm not sure of what it does. Unless I've missed something, the Bookmarks were still there after I removed <\Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari>.

Just installed Safari 3.1 / Windows from the Apple Software Update program this morning. The program crashes on launch, reinstalling and installing from the .msi don't change the behavior. I'm on Windows Server 2003 - here's the debug output:

I never tried using Safari on Windows until today. I am on Win XP SP2 with Office 2007 recently installed (I mention this because some of the posts above mention incompatible fonts... though they dont list which fonts are incompatible nor how to remove them).

I had experienced multiple attempts to "automatically update" quicktime and safari in the past couple weeks where the "update failed" so I assumed safari was crashing due to a corrupted update. I opened add-remove programs and removed safari completely.

I then downloaded the setup and installed the latest Safari for windows version 3.525.13.3

Again when I open Safari it starts to load the apple home page and pops up the "Safari is not the default..." message, then it rips out as if someone had clicked the X. I get no error message.

Is there anyone from Apple on this thread who can answer as to why this is happening and what can be done to fix it?
