Yahoo Mail IMAP problem

One thing I've noticed. When I set the yahoo account up on my iphone and it tries to verify, it gives me the same thing it give you all. However, I choose to save the account information anyway and it gives me that little advisory about it probably not going to work speech. However, when I go into the yahoo account on my iphone, it won't let me receive, but I can send flawlessly. So, my workaround for now is that I set up filters in yahoo to send me mail alerts on my mobile, so now, I can receive the message as a text alert, and if I need to reply, I simply open up my yahoo account on my phone and send....its a little annoying, but will work for now until this issue is figure out.

Does anyone know if this is going to be fixed or how to fix it without sending a text to the phone? My Gmail account works great, but I can't get my yahoo to work, i have tried deleting and re-entering, I have tried to change the password. I can't think of anything else. Also my you tube isn't working? I keep on getting a message that I need to connect with itunes with an internet connection to enable. I can connect to itunes using the phone and even when it is connected to my comuter and there is no you tube setting. I don't know what else to do? Can anyone help with either of these. Thanks

The yahoo wizard sets up email on all my aliases just fine. I get the Imap problem only on my primary alias. I'm guessing it's a yahoo thing and relates to original account passwords and email addresses,which in my case goes back to the btopenworld days. To get around it set up the account using 'other' use the account details you'd use to set up any other email client, pop3 etc. You won't get all the features the wizard sets up for you but you will get your mail.

I'm having the same problem - invalid user name or password. It worked just fine until the 21st and now I get that message every time I try to check my yahoo mail. Tried shutting the iPhone on and off, hard quiting the mail program, and recreating the account on the iPhone. Nothing works. 😟

So do I need to set up the yahoo mail under a different format? Does anyone know the settings to do this? Thanks

Problem solved with 1.1.4 update

The problem seems to be solved with updating to 1.1.4 but resurfaced after the phone was jailbroken, so it would appear that the problem lies within the jailbroken process.

I updated my Iphone, which is with ATT not hacked, etc. and I still have the same problem, which by the way started this afternoon.

I upgraded to 1.1.4 this morning and this is the first time EVER that I have seen this problem (about 10 hours after upgrading).

My phone is NOT a "jailbreak" one...

So, please... if someone can help me with "whats going on here?" I'd greatly appreciate it.

I also just upgraded to 1.1.4 today and right after I did, Yahoo stopped sending and receiving on my iphone, with error messages. I tried deleting the mail account, then re-entering the information to set it up again several times, but kept getting an error message saying that it couldn't connect to the IMAP Yahoo server, and that the account wouldn't be able to send or receive mail (I tried to do both anyway, but got error messages)...What's going on here?

Not sure if it is at the "imap.apple." end? or ".mail.yahoo.com" end?
Any guesses? (I am thinking APPL screwed up somewhere)

Delete the account and rebuild it now. I'm in NYC and it started working for me about 2 hours ago. Something I read elsewhere, that you might try, is to rebuild the account in your phone while on the EDGE network NOT wi-fi. Then, once it validates it, you can do whatever you want. This did the trick for me. ( although it could have been just timing coincidence )
