Yahoo Mail IMAP problem

Is your account an "old" one? I had a "dissabled" old yahoo account and it never worked there. I created a new one, and that was part of my success formula, although it didn't work right away. ( Yup ... if my results sound kind of random, it's because they kind of were ). But now, the push email is working really great. I'm actually fwd my usual email address to this yahoo one (because I don't want to use a yahoo email) and it works like a charm.

Did anyone figure out how to fix this problem? I'm using 1.1.3 and have been getting the incorrect password message for 2 weeks now.

upgrading to 1.1.4 fixed it for me.

Still haven't been fixed, so my work around is to go to Yahoo Mail in Safari, and then saved it on my homescreen, it's more of a hassle, but I still get access to my Y! Mail that way. I'm having way too much fun with iAno and PocketGuitar to go back being jailed...

I used to have 1.1.1. After update to 1.1.4 2 days ago, I experienced this problem with my Yahoo email account but not gmail. Anyone have any luck to solve this problem?

I had no problems through updates 1.1.3 and then I recently got the 1.1.4 update and since then, my Yahoo! Mail account has not been working on my iPhone. I receive the following error:

The user name or password for "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is incorrect.

My old account information was already there and had been working previously so it should be working now.

I've seen lots of posts like this already, just thought I'd chime in as well. This problem only occurred for me AFTER I updated to 1.1.4.

Forget waiting Yahoo or Apple to fix this problem. I just go to iTune and Restore just now and I have all my Yahoo, Gmail and other email clients working right away. Somehow I think when we did the firmware updated, we corrupt the mail part. Just do the restore and make sure back up all your settings and you will have your Yahoo email working again in no time.

I, too, have this problem. I was last able to sync on 3/7 at 6:33am. Since then I get the imap.apple.... error. Check passwords, tried new accounts, tried reinstalling accounts, tried powering down and back up, etc, etc, etc. While not a deal breaker, it's a nice to have so I don't have to go check Y! mail with their lame mobile webmail interface. Yes, I jailbreaked my phone, but it stopped syncing before I did it. I'm considering a full restore, just to see if that helps. Given all I've done and heard about this problem, it seems intermittent and doesn't seem to hit everyone so I have my doubts about the full restore fixing it. Gmail, .mac and Exchange work fine. Why not Y!? Any solutions?

I have EXACTLY the same problem and wonder EXACTLY the same thing about 3 hours ago. I did the back up full restore, then Jailbreak then reinstall a lot of stuff again and took me about 3 hours to have my iPhone back the way I wanted...

base on all that I've read on this thread thus far, I've concluded that there is just no rhyme or reason to this particular problem. It affects people who have 1.1.3, 1.1.4 firmware, people who has jailbroken phone, and people who has not. I just wish either Yahoo or Apple would step up and give us a definitive answer already...

Yes, it worked for sure for me the very first time after restore. But please make sure back up all the info/data first. But still we will still lost a lot of info such as phone numbers, stock quotes, alarms info... For example, a lot of people called me since I used this iPhone since last July. I captured a lot of contact infos since then. Those are not in my Outlook contact info. Therefore those info are lost for good. Some new book marks too... My 3 hours are basically spent into tweaking and input a lot of info back to the iPhone. But now, I have 1.1.4 with jailbreak working iPhone and of course all working imaps' Yahoo and Gmail email accounts.

I just downloaded the 1.1.4 verson to my iphone yesterday. Everything works well except for the Mail. I am a yahoo mail user and I don't want to change it to anyother Mailing service.

Here is the problem:
1. I go to Mail.
2. I tap Yahoo.
3. Type Name, Address, Password, & Description
4. I hit return or save and it goes to verify Yahoo account.
5. Now here is where the message pops up:

*Cannot Get Mail*
*The user name or password for*
*"imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is*
incorrect.

6. I have tried everything from, carefully entering everything correctly
to manualy entering everything in the "other" setting.
7. I tried downloading WinSCP and deleating the Mail file and that hasn't
worked.

I have even called apple and they don't know what the problem is. They said it could be yahoo's server, but for some reason I don't think it is yahoo server. I have read that a lot of people are having this problem. It seems to be with jailbroken iphones and some with regular un-jailbroken iphones. Since you guys are the experts can you fix this unfixable problem. Give us the answer to this problem

I've had it working for over a month now, so here are my thoughts:

First, it probably IS a yahoo problem, since there are NO problems with any other mail providers on the iphone.

Here is all the "voodoo" I tried - from different posts I found.

1. When I tried to make it work with my old Yahoo account, it didn't work, so I had to make a new account. I read in some forum that old yahoo accounts have problems.

2. Delete the account on the iphone, turn off your wireless and redo the account using edge. Once it registers through edge, wi-fi will work fine. ( Again, I did it this way because of what I read )

3. It will fail on you a couple of times before it actually works. I think I had to try it three or four times.

Until I did these three things, I could not get yahoo mail to work.

Now that I got it working, it has been solid since. The only problem I had was the YAHOO server sending ALL my mail to the spam folder, so I removed the spam protector. Annoying, but it's better than not getting any emails. 😉

Okay the last post didn't fix my problem plus I don't want a new account. Thanks anyways, honestly. So anyone else know how to fix this unfixable problem. If you can fix it I will personally call up Steve Jobs and request that you be put on the next big product apple comes out with.
