Help with IPhone bought without SIM from Ebay

So this might not be kosher to ask, but I bought an IPhone from EBay, and it wasn't shipped with a SIM card.

My old phone was a Razr through ATT/Cingular and I thought that I could just switch that SIM card into the IPhone.

Is this not right? Am I not able to use this IPhone I paid retail price for?

Please help!!

I think all you have to do is go and get a new sim card.

I'm confused as to why you would purchase the phone from Ebay. If you are an existing ATT customer why not buy from the Apple Store?

So long as the phone is still locked to AT&T you just need a new SIM card. Should only be a few bucks at your local AT&T store. Pop it in, activate it and its smooth sailing.

If you paid retail price and did not receive a complete unit I would return the phone and get a refund under eBay procedures.

I hope you used either PayPal or a Credit Card or both.

Thanks for the suggestions. So I'll just head over to the ATT store and get a new SIM card. Would I need to then activate the iphone? It didn't come with a manual either so I'm rather lost!

The new ones don't come with manuals either. Put in the SIM card and plug it into your computer. iTunes will walk you through activation.

I guess I'm not getting how the whole things works.

Will the people at the ATT store have to program the SIM card with my account information and such or does that take place through ITunes? I always thought the SIM card kept your account number and network specs and stuff.

Guess I'll learn not to shop on Ebay. I think actually I was bamboozled. It's a 4GB Iphone with no SIM, no sync cord, no earbuds, and I paid $450 .. Just saw on ATT that the 8GB are only $400 .. Yay for unscrupulous sellers.

The activation process in iTunes will program the SIM card.
