Hardcover Photo Book ordered but not received

Hi

I ordered a book on the 9th Dec (beating the guaranteed by Xmas delivery cutoff date) but the delivery is coming to my office. I work in a large office block which is manned by security but not staffed on Christmas Eve.

How is the book delivered in the UK? Standard - does that mean Royal Mail? Signed for? Need to know I'm going to get this for Christmas!!! Main gift for my parents!

Thanks
Jamie

Hope you have more luck than I did - I posted this a bit further down the forum in relation to calendars!

What a ridiculous service - ordered a calendar at the end of November. It was despatched on 3rd December (allegedly) but I wasn't in when it was delivered so it went back to the depot (wherever that is). according to the man at Apple, they won't resend it and I have no way of contacting them and it's far too late to sort it out before Christmas and so Apple are going to refund me !
I'll be using this service again - NOT

Delivered via Local Post - Packages are typically delivered 3 - 10 business days after we print and ship your order. Tracking numbers are not available.

I'm hoping for courier - but I'm unclear on what "Local Post" is.

I really don't want to be here on Christmas Eve -- I would much rather be with my family, so if it doesn't arrive today I'll forget about it and blacklist Apple for print products. Everything I've ever ordered from Apple has been spot on in terms of service and delivery -- this however is ridiculous.

I suppose just like any online ordering service, some people will find it problem free - some will find it extremely troublesome. I ordered a calender sometime in November, and it took 6 WORKING days to be delivered - via Royal Mail. I think the cost is acceptable, and the time span and choice of using Royal Mail acceptable, too.

I ordered a book at the beginning of December, and that also took 6 WORKING days. Neither item needed signing for, but I did need to collect both from the main sorting office, as I was out on both occasions when postie attempted delivery.

It concerns me that people find it so hard to get hold of Apple when things do go wrong, though. I wonder why Apple don't have a tie in with a courier company once the items reach these shores? Perhaps cost is an issue, but I can't imagine anyone being more expensive than Royal Mail. Mind you, using anyone other than Royal Mail brings its own problems, because I think a courier would require a signature, and I would never be home during the day and, believe me, it is much harder to get an item off a courier company than it is Royal Mail if first delivery has failed, because Apple NEVER allow the courier to leave an Apple product anywhere other than the specified delivery address.
