Hi, i am experiencing problem with Bluetooth connectivity of my BMW E60 (530D) and my brand new iPhone. Every time i connect the iPhone and try to make a call using my car, connection drops and I can hear the person talking only through my iPhone. I owned N73, N95 and other Nokias and all of them worked just fine. Yet i am starting to regret buying an iPhone since i travel a lot and my BMW headset is my necessity.
Intersting. I have a 2006 BMW 325i w/ Bluetooth and have experienced the initial connection issue. After placing or receiving a call it usually take anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds before I can hear the person on the other end. The phone book and contacts download perfectly, and I believe this is only done on the initial pairing...subsequent pairings it just looks for changes. I haven't tried turning off my wi-fi yet, but that if you have to disable a bunch of settings for your iphone to work, I think it defeats the point of simplicity Apple was trying to bring. My 8GB iPhone is running version 1.1.4.
I've had a better experience w. BT Headsets over the ear than w. BMW (2007) BT.
For one thing I don't like having to go into my center console and disconnect the IP--to take the phone w. me when I leave the car.
I have a retrofit kit BMW ULF Part: 84-21-6-934-552, Dealer installed in 04/2005 in my 2001 BMW 740i. Is there any hope that this will ever work with the iPhone?
Is this true for all years and models? I have a 2005 330ci and it ticks me off that I cannot mate my iPhone 3G to it. The phone is discoverable but when I put in the pin, it won't pair. That pin worked for 3 other phones.
I have a 4th generation module which works fine with the 3G. Calls in 3G are crystal clear. The car's voice dial and phone book work fine, however Caller ID does not display. This used to work with my Windows Mobile device. If anyone has a fix for this I would appreciate it.
I have a 2005 BMW M3 covertible with Assist and my iPhone 3G pairs perfectly. It's actually the best and most reliable bluetooth phone I've had for the M3.
Hi there. I too have a 2005 M3 convt. My iPhone (1st gen) will not pair... no idea what is wrong. The information available on this subject is disgustingly sparce. Do you (or anyone) have a step-by-step on getting the car and the iphone on the same pairing?
I've got a iPhone 3G, never tried the other. It paired easier than any other phone, just following the info from the car. Turn the key on, without the engine running, and do the pairing. Then turn the key off. Wait 30 seconds or so, then turn the car on. That's the way I do it and the iPhone 3G has been working great. It might be different hardware/software from yours, I don't know. Good luck!
Some bloggers over at scoopz have come up with a solution that works. You have to create 2000 additional contacts in your contacts book, then re-pair your Iphone with your BMW and after a few minutes "transferring data" your address book will appear. Don't ask me how it works but it does. If you search on Yahoo for Iphone BMW Bluetooth follow the link to scoopz blog and then Iphone there is even a downloadable V-Card file to create the extra contacts.
Hope this helps, it certainly ended lots of frustration for me.
