MMMMM you can use the port's if you would remove the pin (jack) you would be able to listen to the IPod, or hear your email,text and other alerts!!!! Yes the case is waterproof for thirty minutes under three feet of water ! If left under water for longer than that water may leak into the case!!

Why would anyone need that kind of protection?

well my iphone, bought on release day, had 14 days (as per the counter on the phone) of use on it, when i broke the screen.

i have dropped it from rooftops, rolled on it, sat on it, dropped it on concrete, mud, and dirt. i guess i use mine at work.....

what do you use your iphone for that requires no protection?

I have moved into a padded hermeticly sealed chamber..

I have to protect my phone..

Or maybe I have the Iphone defender case.. I am very satisfied.. While it may not be totally waterproof I rarely go diving with my phone..

i do have a job where i wear a suit, and from time t time i do dress nice. a case that allows me to remove the phone appealed to me, since i think either case is TOO much for dress occasions....
