Charter.net email setup

I can't seem to get my email working. I have charter.net account and was wondering if anyone else has this that works...if so what are your settings at?

I have tried with and without adding port numbers 25/110, still no luck.

For incoming I have mail.charter.net, username + charter.net, and password.

For outcoming I have stmp.charter.net, username + charter.net, and password.

I am having the same problem. Charter email is unable to be set up on the iphone.
Followed the directions on apple website--no help
changed the outgoing server to pop.charter.net--nothing
Changed the outgoing to cmwx--nothing
Added the 25 and 100 to each--nothing
Tried all different combinations of the above and still nothing.
I went to the "genius bar" (what a misnomor) and with no help since the way he was trying to fix the problem was by looking in this forum. When I explained that I had already been here he gave up also.
So what is the answer and If here is not the place to get it or the genius bar, then Where?
Thanks

Is it not saving? What errors are you getting?

If you get an SSL message giving you a Yes or No option. Choose No.

Then Save again, It will say account may not work. Save anyways. This will force save account.

Now tap on account.

Make sure outgoing server is cwmx.com and username and password are blank.

Now go to Advanced. SSL for incoming needs to be on Port 995

Outgoing SSL needs to be off and using port 25

Now exit out, Tap on Mail on the iPhone and it should start downloading.

John,

Enter your email address in the [Mail Setup Assistant|http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/mailhelper>. It should provide you with the correct settings to be able to send and receive email over EDGE. Don't forget to check out the advanced settings as well if you are still having trouble sending.

If you are having trouble receiving email, make sure no other devices (such as other computers or phones) are trying to access email at the same time as the iPhone, or you might be getting a POP lock. As stated in [this|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307009] article:
The POP3 mail protocol was designed, and is implemented in many cases, to support one connection at a time. If your ISP is not configured for multiple POP connections, then when two different devices attempt to access the mailbox at the same time, both devices may get locked out, or sometimes they will be prompted to enter the password.

Some steps you can take to prevent this from occurring are not leaving your computer's mail application open, and increasing the interval for auto-checking mail on your computer and iPhone or iPod touch. This setting is available on the device by choosing Settings > Mail > Auto-Check.

Hope this helps,
Jennifer B.

I came to this forum looking for the same answer. I could not get Charter.net email setup through my iPod Touch but I did find a way that worked.

Launch iTunes and connect your iPhone or iPod Touch. Under Devices in iTunes, select your device and then goto the Info tab in the main area of iTunes. Scroll down and you'll find there is a checkbox to sync your email. If you are using the OS X Mail client on your Mac and have it working with Charter, iTunes will sync your iPod or iPhone correctly (it sets up the account automagically) and then you can send/receive email from your charter account.

For whatever reason, setting up email from the device itself just doesn't work...but setting it up through the iTunes sync works.

Make sure you don't run both your OS X Mail Client and iPod/iPhone client at the same time as you will find that Charter doesn't support this.

it is surprising how we all have the same charter, the same AT&T and the same iphones, but we have different variations of the same problem.

here is what i have come to . . .

using EDGE can work. Using WIFI does not.

For host name, i have better luck with POP then with MAIL

i also shortened the user name to exclude the @ . . . .

for outgoing, i turned the primary server OFF

i used the AT&T SMTP server.

i use cwmx.com i do this without the .25 at the end.

i turned OFF the SSL both incoming and outgoing.

outgoing server port 25

INcoming server port 110 (995 did not work for me)

shame on AT&T charging $30 per month and not helping with email.

shame on APPLE for offering an set up tool that plainly does not work.
