I've experienced that problem too, but only once.

Also, recently, I am unable to login to the forums. When I choose "Log In" from the menu on the right, it goes to the "Create New User Account" page despite the fact that the create account page already displays my name and AppleID and has a link "Log out of this AppleID."

I normally use Camino 1.5.4 (Multilingual) and get that problem recently. Everything works fine in Safari (I'm currently writing from Safari)

Edit:
Found the snapshot of the screen. It says:
"500 com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.MySQLNonTransientConnectionException: No operations allowed after connection closed.
Resin Professional 3.0.23 (built Mon, 22 Jan 2007 02:25:17 PST) "

Intermittent problem when attempting to submit replies:

*500 Unable to insert message into the database: No operations allowed after connection closed.*
*Resin Professional 3.0.23 (built Mon, 22 Jan 2007 02:25:17 PST)*

Found this in the system.log, but don't know if it's related:

I keep getting the error 500 when I try to log in and check My Subscriptions....HELP!!!

Try deleting your browser's cache, and all cookies associated with the forums. In Safari, go to any page that's not the Apple Discussions and choose "Empty Cache..." from the "Safari" menu. Then, open Safari's Preferences, choose the "Security" icon in the toolbar, then the "Show Cookies" button. Search for "discussions.apple.com" and select all the cookies and delete them. Once I did that, I was able to see my "My Subscriptions" page.

However, I should probably mention that I didn't have to do that to get Safari to work, but Camino, which is the browser I use most. But when I wasn't having problems with Safari, I figured it might be a cache or cookie problem.

Valerie --
I asked the Hosts to look into your problem
and they did try to help you with your subscriptions.

If you have any more problems with using Apple Discussions,
please start your own new topic in this Feedback Forum,
instead of putting it onto another thread. That way, the Hosts will
be able to see your problem much easier.

Hope everything gets straightened out for you 🙂

Apple is probably aware of this, but there remain serious issues with the forum software. It has been essentially unusable in the past 48 hours.

1. Regular server errors (error 500) when viewing threads
2. Inability to reply to threads (connection closed message)
3. Forums listed as having no content
4. Inability to log in
5. Inability to use the quoting and preview tools

and so on. It would be most appropriate for a moderator to post a message in the right rail of the forum main page explaining that these are known issues and will be fixed ASAP.

Eric Westby
