CANON ZR850

I have a macbook with mac osx 10.4.10 with imovie 6.0.3 and I recently bought a canon zr850. I plugged the camera into the laptop, but it doesn't seem to be recognized at all. I followed the directions that came with the camera and installed the software, but nothing seems to be working. It works on other computers, but not mine. I have recorded footage to the camera and I had bought it for the purpose of using it with imovie and final cut. Can someone tell me how to transfer the footage from the camera to the computer please?!!!

How do you connect Camcorder to your MacBook? I have Sony HDR-HC1 and her is what I would recommend to try

1. Make sure you have all the latest updates for your iMovie.
2. Connect thru Fire Wire.
3. Turn on your camcorder. For download, set it in Play movie mode.
Than once you plug your camera in and open iMovie, close to the bottom of the screen you would see a switch. On one side is little silhouette of camcorder the other one is a scissors. Move the switch to the camcorder side, and than chose to import from your camcorder. Button on the screen should at this point change to "Import", just click it and this should automatically start playing video on your camcorder and downloading. you should be able to control your camcorder from your mac.

Hope this helps.
