How to buy songs from another iTunes country store via credit card?

Hi there,

I registered for the iTunes Store Germany, paying method credit card. Now I'd like to buy some spanish songs which are only available in iTunes Store Espana.
By starting the buying process I receive a message, that my account has only access rights for the german store. -.-
What can I do to buy these songs? I even don't understand the sense of this restriction.

Hope to find a solution here.

Thanks,
Tobias

The issue of cross store purchasing comes up frequently so I'll just quote one of the most complete explanations (courtesy of Dave Sawyer) from the many given:

In order to buy from any given country's iTunes Music Store you must be able to show some form of residency which would be either:

a) a credit card with a billing address in that country, or

b) a mailing address in that country and a gift certificate or a prepaid card that was bought in that country.

If you cannot fulfill one of these two sets of conditions, you will not be able to purchase from any given country's iTMS.

.......this is due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders (who are often completely different from country to country and so all require their own individual negotiations and contracts), not by Apple's choice. And this also applies to all the legal download stores that carry major-label content, not just the iTMS.

If you want to buy things from the iTunes Music store in another country, you need:

a) a credit card issued by a bank in that country with a billing address also in that country, or

b) a mailing address for your residence in that country and a gift certificate or a prepaid card that was bought in that country.

For most people it can't be done.

I understand this is a restriction imposed by the owners of the rights to the media.

Thank you both for your explanation. It seems I will go away empty-handed.
From my point of view that doesn't make any sense. You can buy in every country store music of US artists and well known artists of other countries. Why isn't it possible to buy other songs? Maybe with a valid credit card or e.g. via PayPal/ClickSafe with a payment in advance?
That's really dissappointing and I don't think that's on behalf of labels or artists. 😉

Cheers,
Tobias
