Is there any way to fully share a single iPhoto library between two user accounts on one machine (iMac 2.0GHz dual core Intel, 10.5.1, iPhoto '08), without using an external drive (because I don't have one)? By share, I mean each user has full rights and priveledges to the entire library, regardless of who uploaded the pics. Holding down the option key on iPhoto startup does not work because my wife can't access the pics I loaded even though she's pointing to the shared library in a shared folder.
Terence - Yes I tried dragging them to the desktop. I'm going to install '08 on my second machine here at my desk and see what happens. I'll post the results here. Thanks.
Hi Terence,
This actually works nice. With iphoto running on MY computer. my wife can browse and save any pictures she wants to HER computer. But you can't drag them to the desktop. Just drag them directly into the users own album.
Amazing, this did the trick. So far it appears I can access all the photos from both accounts. Remains to be seen if one of us uploads some new pictures if the other one can access them. In other words, did the unix commands I just issued apply only to the existing photos, or is it going to apply in the future as well? Perhaps I should save the unix window somewhere. I consider this solved for the meanwhile. Thanks for everyone's help!
