Motorola V710

So iSync support says this only works with USB cable for syncing... can I use the USB cable accessory to transfer OTHER files (i.e, mp3s for ringtones) to the phone?

Thanks!

I am pretty sure that they are only refering to syncing.

You don't "sync" mp3's and ringtones. You click on the bluetooth menu and use the "send file" option to send the files to the device. You should also be able to browse files on the device using the same menu.

This was the case for my V3 (razr) before they started supporting it.

NOTE: This all assumes that the phone has not been crippled by your carrier. Some carriers diable certain features. Those carriers are not cool.

Well, I was able to find the phone via bluetooth... however, it appears that I am only able to use it dial remotely... sync and address book are not available (as indicated by Apple) nor can I send a file or browse the device... this is because the service is NOT available... I'm thinking that either I'm doing something wrong (doesn't really seem likely given how simple this is) or VZW is being lame and has crippled the bluetooth ability... buggers!

ZEBRA,

In one message you say it DOES work with address book, in the next you say you haven't gotten it to work ywt. Which is it? i am thinking of getting this phone if I can get the BT to function relaibly. Verizon has poor policies and not the best phones, but the best service. And BTW, Verizon did hobble the phone. Apple wrotethe iSync to reflect the enabled features of the device.

I have the v710 and Verizon in the cincinnati area. I can tell you that it does not sync with iSync via BlueTooth, but does with the USB cable from Motorola. It does not transfer files via BlueTooth nor the USB cable. I don't even know how you would do it via USB either. BlueTooth File Exchange clearly does not work. As someone stated earlier, it can communicate with your Mac, but only to dial (gee, whoopie). I'm not sure who is to blame (Apple or Verizon), but I highly suspect it is Verizon as they are your typical nasty large corporation very comparible to Microsoft in my opinion. For example, they don't want you to exchange games and ringtones I buy with my wife's phone when they can make her buy them too. I can see no reason why Apple would cripple BT syncing with iSync. I have never tried the "fix" mentioned in this thread, but I just might. Thanks to all who have contributed to the thread!
