Motorola RAZR v3

Just purchased the Motorola RAZR v3 after seeing it on the apple isync website.

It connects well with iSync using tiger and bluetooth.

Have worked out how to send and recieve pictures between devices.

My problems are that when downloading info from address book to phone. I get two seperate listings on the phone for phone number and email address for each person. Who can I get them to merge on the phone?

Another thing is that there is no where to store postal addresses. Big disappointment.

Nowhere to store any other info like my old Nokia could in its wallet area.

When sending appointments to phone. Appointments appear in phone, but the alarm time dosn't register.

Also no birthday dates with alarms where downloaded either.

I like the look of the phone. Very sexy. But its software and compatability are poor. Would rather get rid of all games and other gimmicky rubbish off the phone to have these other more important features to work.

I rang Motoroller who gave me the runaround. There tech department in Sydney told me they do not support mac or no anything about it. They said I should call Apple support. I think apple should remove the phone from its website!

Anyone have any suggestions or similar problems. Out there.

Thanks

I tried following the fix with the Tiger Upgrade and that has still not solved my problem. When I discover the Razr v3 it is discovered as a Computer and not as a Mobile phone...in fact, the macmini wont discover it unless I select all...

I have tried deleting all devices on phone and mac and still it shows up as a computer and then iSync does not see it.

Anyone out there that can offer help?

You mention using usb file transfer to get mp3 files onto the phone... how would I go about doing that?

I have a usb device cable that connects my laptop and v3, the device shows up in iSync, but it doesn't mount on the desktop. I can't find any applications in Mac OS X that would seem to help with this.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙂

EDIT: I'm trying to get out of buying a Bluetooth adapter just so I can get ringtones/photos off/on my phone, but I guess I will if I have to.

I hope this gets to E. A. Oates cause I have spent an hour searching for you about this tip:

Topic: iMoive: How do I fix out of sync audio? (iMovie)
Original Message ( Posted Nov 5, 02 12:40 pm )

From time to time, especially when the original DV stream was in 12-bit audio, an exported iMovie will have audio which falls out of synchronization with the video. How do I fix it?

1. Buy QuickTime Pro 5 or 6 depending on your system.

2. Export your iMovie in the format you need (iDVD for a DV stream ready for import to iDVD).

3. Open your QuickTime movie in QuickTime Pro.

4. Extract the audio track from that movie. (It will put it in a new untitled movie. Now you have two movies, but the untitled one only has your old audio track).

5. Delete the audio track from the movie: under edit, select "delete tracks" and choose to delete the audio track.

6. Select the new untitled movie audio and copy it to the clipboard: "select all", and then click "copy".

7. Go back to the original movie and click "add scaled".

Voila! The audio track will be the same length as your video track and should solve your problem. Now it is ready to drag into iDVD for encoding. It sounds worse than it is.

1 - I have 7.0
2 - can I export to cam?
3 - now you throw me (we start out talking about iMovie and now suddenly
switch to QT/)

There are others who say do all this in iMovie so why QT?

Sorry for the delay in answering: I was on vacation and off my computer (hooray!).

I mispoke regarding use of USB to send or retrieve files. There may be some third party devices which can send/receive files to the RAZR via USB, but I did all of mine using Bluetooth browse device. I was plugged into USB at the time for recharging. Sorry for any confusion.

"Anyone have any idea how to get the numbers on the razr to load into the computer (Address book?) using the USB cord? NOT bluetooth?"

It should be quite straightforward under 10.4. Just connect the USB cable, open iSync, and add device. The trouble is that you can't get access to the audio, picture and video folders through USB without 3rd party software. Address and Calendar syncing works fine, though.

I just purchased a Motorola RAZR v3, Black edition, with Cingular. So far I haven't had any of the problems found in this tread, but maybe it helped to read through all the "solutions" when setting up the phone. For initial set up it seems the common problem when pairing the phone using the Bluetooth assistant is forgetting to make the phone discoverable. Also A
address book syncing is not set up through the Bluetooth preference pane. You must open iSync and add the phone as a new device. Then there are many options for contacts and calendar events.

Thanks to those who found the solution to the problem of multiple listings on the phone for different numbers with the same person. After designating a Primary contact, I got one clean address book with just one listing for each contact.

Setting this phone up to use as a GPRS modem took some tinkering. If you are having problems I suggest going to this link

http://www.digitalpoint.com/~shawn/2004/12/motorola-razr-v3-bluetooth-powerbook. html

I followed the simple directions and was up and running in no time.

Thanks all for helping me get up and running. This is my first Bluetooth phone and I am very happy with it.

I just happened on your post and thought I would answer since it didn't look like anyone else replied.

Bring up the Sync application window.

Click once on your phone.

A window should pop up that has all the options for what to sync, etc. Look toward the bottom and you will see a "Get events for the next:" There is an option box where you can select from 1 to 8 weeks.
