Epson printer icon on dock will not disappear after print job is finished.

I am very very happy with the Epson RX595 printer I just bought. Got the drivers from Epson.com ahead of time, everything works great. One little annoying problem is that the printer icon on the dock does not disappear after printing is done. I have auto-hide option checked. I trashed all the drivers and started from scratch, no big deal, but problem remains. I know its trivial, but annoying. I have unchecked and rechecked the auto hide several times.

Any ideas?

MacBook, iMac, MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Try clicking and holding on the Epson icon on the dock and see if there is an option there to "Auto Hide" or "Auto Quit".

Hello TS:

I encountered this myself with an HP printer. As I understand it, the application is still running. My 'fix' was to right click on the icon. One of the options was to autoquit or something like that.

Yeah, that's what I meant by saying the auto hide was enabled, I dont know of another way to turn that option on except by clicking and holding or right-clicking. Is there somewhere else I could try enabling that option?

Hello again:

I think we have a terminology problem. What I was referring to was not hiding the icon - it was a method to have the application close after printing is finished.

When i print something from any application an icon that looks like my exact printer (not a generic system icon) appears on the dock. The icon stays, with blue orb under it, after printing has finished. I can click and hold on the icon and select "Auto-hide" or "Auto quit" (at work and dont have computer in front of me), but it still does not diappear after print job. I can click and hold or right click and quit and then the icon disappears.

Try deleting, re-adding the printer, and then setting Auto Quit.

I tried your suggestion. Delete the printers, reinstall them and lo and behold "Auto Quit" works perfectly. thanks.
