How do you open Numbers files in Excel

I just completed an invoice file in Numbers. And tried opening it in Excel, but it would not.
Why is this? I thought they were compatible?

MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Hello

It seems that you read wrongly the Numbers specs. 😉

Numbers is able to *import many (not all)* XL files.

Numbers is able to *export to XL* format.

But *nobody wrote* that a document saved as a Numbers document would be readable in Excel !

You will have to export your file to .xls.
