iPhone stuck in "headphones" mode
Windows XP Pro

I cannot believe I had this issue today - literally 4 days before I get the iPhone7. I went into panic mode and spoke to Apple Support chat online - we spent almost an hour testing voice memos, restoring my phone from backup and as new - no luck. Then we got cut off 😕
But then someone else took over and 'kindly' warned me that I was out of warranty so I would be liable for any hardware costs. YAY! However they told me of the simple trick of getting a cotton bud and gently inserting it into the jack to clear it out. I had no cotton buds so I delicately used a cocktail stick. Five mins later of tiny bits of lint coming out, hey presto! A bigger ball comes out and my phone went back into ringer mode! I could have cried. Literally.
Thanks ima747! Your method, calling the phone and turning speaker on, then off, worked when the other methods didn't.
Same problem and nothing was working to fix it. I finally hit the jack receptacle with canned air and that did the trick. Problem occured while using the phone in the rain.
Unplugging and then plugging the broken headphone jack in and out a bunch of time did it for me. On my set, I also used screwing motion, clockwise, which seemed to help as well.
Thanks!!!
After trying absoutley everything on here without success, a friend on FB suggested scrubbing the charger port with a dry toothbrush. Worked first time! 🙂
I used my hairdryer and blew air into the headphone jack. It is now back to normal.🙂
If you take a tooth pick a wrap paper towel around it and then clean out your headphone jack it should work! (: Worked for me!
On second thought its just lint or debris in the port, a shot of air from a compressed air can I imagine would do the same thing
iPhone 5 - Compressed air through the straw in the headphone and docking jack fixed it.
Blowing out the headphone socket with compressed air did the trick right away! Many thanks!
omg!! thanks u guys!! this really helped after blowdrying the speaker nothing worked but i plugged and unplugged my headphones after 3 tries it worked!! thanks for saving me a ton of money!!
i used one of those clean duster cans, sprayed right into the headphone jack and it worked perfectly.
Plug and unplugged the headphones. Note here, it must be the iPhone headphones and not regular ones.
Compressed air with little nozzle worked for me!
THIS WORKS 100%
Softly insert qtip into headphone jack
Turn a couple times
There ya go!
Thank me laterrrrr
I tried numerous mentioned methods, the only one which helped me was the using of toothpick. Just try to "clean" the jack with it, and the problem will be solved 😉
