Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I know it is early, but I'm wondering if we can sync our data with the new "iTunes Phone". It has not been updated on the devices page.

and it says this NOTE: Bluetooth® devices are for voice calls only. *Only for voice calls.
I think that means that you cannot use a bluetooth headset to listen to music, that is that you have to use the wired headset:
Matching wired stereo headset : Listen to music or calls in privacy on a matching wired stereo headset (note: Bluetooth® devices are for voice calls only)
but your guess is a good as mine.
If you run the UNIX strings command on iSync 2.1, you get four lines mentioning the ROKR so I would bet that support for the ROKR E1 is probably already there in iSync 2.1 or at least on its way but I may be wrong.
strings /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/ MacOS/ApplePhoneConduit | grep ROKR
ROKR E790
"Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"+ROKR E790
ROKR E1

If Apple have missed this opportunity to Sync with iCal and such like somebody has made a major error. Can you imagine how the Apple computer sales would increase?
The Mac community would expand if Apple sort this one - I cannot imagine they will allow this marketing opportunity to pass them by.
Apple is beginning to present the all round solution and this is a keen aspect toward a paper less office. Imagine being able to carry your iCal with you and also input into it!
Come on Apple we know you can do it.

I don't see what the big deal is with the iTunes phone. Why not get a Treo 650 which comes with the Palm OS, can sync with Macs, has a music player, camera, media player, and one can use SD cards for lots of storage...
Never heard of it - I will look it up now.
Can you use it in the UK?
Can you sync iCal to it?

Don't know about UK usage or availability. It's made by PalmOne. I have a Palm Zire 71 PDA which I sync with all my Mac stuff, and I imagine the Treo would be the same. Although I must say iSync has a hard time with Palm syncing and I ended up buying the excellent third party application called The Missing Sync by Mark/Space.
I need a small cell with enough memory to take 2 year's worth of iCal.
I wondered about the motorola Razr as it only has 5.5 MB I wondered if that would be too small!

With the extra software do you therefore download iCal?
Do you get the To Do notes etc?

Compared to
my phone it is. I was very close to buying a RAZR, but after going to the Cingular store and holding it, it's too wide for me. It is a nice phone however.
So, knowing that the iTunes phone was expected to come out, I decided to wait. Now I'm a little upset because of the apparant inability to sync contacts.

This phone does everything the RAZR does and more - and it syncs with your mac!
Well, "not supported" does not mean that it does not work. We will have to see what happens when people start receiving these phones.
But iSync has nothing to do with iTunes. Many other Cingular phones already sync contacts and calendars with iSync and Bluetooth. Why this phone would not is beyond me.
That is a good sign. If it is "not supported" yet, then possibly it will be.
I have no use for a Treo nor a PDA whatsoever. I just want my phone numbers to sync with my phone. I don't really even care about the MP3s on a cellphone. To me, it would just be an added bonus. When I switch to Cingular, my first prerequisite is contact syncing. Everything else is secondary. I don't really care about a camera, video, instant messaging, music, etc...
But if the camera that I like has these features, cool. I would not choose iTunes software over the ability to sync.
One of the main reasons that I purchased .Mac was due to the syncing!
