Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I know it is early, but I'm wondering if we can sync our data with the new "iTunes Phone". It has not been updated on the devices page.

I agree, having a phone that truly syncs with my address book in my mac-with the ease and simplicity that I now sync with my Treo is what I'm after. I think the 100 songs is a great gimic, but I'd rather purchase the Nano and have a phone that I can easily manage my contacts with. I dislike the Treo because it is big and bulky and I feel like I have to carry it in my hand because it is too big to put anywhere else (if you notice, most people with a Treo often have it in their hand even when they are not on it), but the contact feature through Palm Desktop is too powerful to give up for a phone that would force me to go back to entering by hand each number and address.
Can you confirm for me that contacts sync with phone numbers and addresses from the Address Book?
scroll through the list to find the contact you want to call then click the nipple button to "Select" (or click "View") then you can scroll through all the alternate numbers for the selected contact.
But Motorola still doesn't get this right. You can't see the alternate numbers as a list. You have to page through each number. Duh. This violates a simple rule of human interface design.
It's too bad that Apple (known for its ease of use) partnered with Motorola (known for its clunky, hard-to-use software) for its first iPhone, the ROKR.
Unfortunately just because a phone shows up on that "supported" list doesn't let you know whether I have to move data via iSync using a USB cable or not.
Does anybody know whether I can sit the ROKR on the table next to my blutooth equipped G5, click iSync and have my Address Book and iCal automagically moved to the ROKR?
If so, I'll buy one this afternoon.

Get an SX1 absolutely brilliant. Bucketful of memory. I have at least 2 years of calendar dates. Loads of Notes and Tasks etc. Really pleased with it. One down side the notes on an iCal event do not import. I have to make separate notes. It is basically a phone and a sophistiated PDA.
Shortcut buttons etc. It is a knockout.
The unique keys on an SX1 are quicker in my opinion for texting too.

You can also use the SX1 to control your Keynote presentation, itunes and a host of other things - awe struck.
Hi Dave.. Do you mean you can use it for controling Keynote etc WITHOUT installing Salling Clicker?

No, sorry for misleading you. It is via Saling Clicker. BUT Sailing CLicker is so cheap it's got to be worth it. Once again sorry for not putting all the info. in the previous comment.
So I don't think I had seen this yet on here but seemed very important...
One person commented that the phone quits being a drive after the phone sync's with itunes (which is a very short amount of time if you are not updating the phone automatically). This is true. But if you go into itunes preferences under the phone pane, you can click 'allow drive use' (or something like that) and like magic, your phone will appear as a removable disk straight away. So that whole thing with trying to quit itunes before your phone unmounts as a drive is totally unnecessary. Plus you only have to click this option once, and it will stay that way forever. I think these preference may only be available when the phone is plugged in though, but i'm not positive.
anyway, hope that helps. if it's already been posted, sorry, i tried to read through everything first.

I was able to sync up Ical and address right away. Change the address book settings on the ROKR to "view Primary Settings" and you are on your way.
The manual is very frustrating but lots of folks on the board can help
Syncing with ISync is pretty easy once you get the device "discovered". You can use the bluetooth assistant to help

Demetrios, the separate phone contacts issue seems to be the Motorola
way of doing things not Apple.

On the phone you need to display 'primary contacts' only:
Which should be something like:
Phonebook > menu key > setup > view > select Primary Contacts.
Bingo! One name with multiple numbers.

Could anyone help me figure out why my new ROKR won't sync up with Tiger through Bluetooth? I'd like to sync Address Book and iCal with the phone, something other users have reported doing successfully (not to mention the fact that Apple's mobile phone compatability page says you can do this with a ROKR). USB music transfer works fine but iSync does not detect the phone through Bluetooth (I have enabled Bluetooth on the phone and selected "Find Me"). The Bluetooth Setup Assistant detects it, but when I try to "Configure" it (which I assume I have to do if I want to sync with Address Book and iCal), it tells me "There were no supported services found on your mobile phone".
Any ideas? Thanks for helping me out.

I too have a related question that would benefit ALL rokr users:
AFTER the data is sync'd, how can you read aski? text data? Of
course I could send myself a text message (at some cost per kilobyte)
but I would like to have the ability to have immediate access to
one to two THOUSAND characters (like any ipod has) or more.
This way I could include a note reader like "Pod to go" has. Is there
any 3rd party software or firmware that would accomplish this if isync
can't handle this?
