"The iPhone could not be updated. An unknown error occured (1602)." - HELP!

Okay, I've tried everything and I can not get this update on my phone. I've tried uninstalling iTunes and Apple Mobile Device and reinstalling them, plugging into different USB ports, redownloading the patch file, and nothing is working. Any help??? This is quite frustrating..

Thanks for everyone's help. My wife's iphone just went black. She thought it was out of batteries, but when I plugged it in it went completely white.

I plugged it into iTunes and tried a restore, but it just said "preparing iphone" for 15 minutes and wasn't going anywhere.

I unplugged and tried again...then it said iphone could not be restored, error 2001. I figured I had completely screwed things up.

So I read some of the other posts
- My iTunes wasn't up to date, so I downloaded the most recent version of iTunes
- I restarted my computer
- I started up iTunes
- I plugged in the iPhone when it was off/asleep
- I still got the 2001 error
- I held down the sleep/wake button (top of phone) and the home button (face of phone) until it shut down. I can't remember if it automatically restarted or stayed off, but I left it with whatever happened. basically this resets the iPhone
- Then I plugged it back into iTunes and restarted

From my experience and others, I think the keys are
1 Download most recent version of iTunes
2 Restart computer
3 Plug in iPhone when it's off
4 If it doesn't work, Reset the iPhone
5 Then try again from #1
