I have been using my iPhone with a Garmin nuvi 680. So far it has worked very well as a hands-free speaker, that is untill last night when I upgraded to 1.1.3. Since the upgrade my Bluetooth connection to the nuvi is shot. I get an initial connection, but every minute or two it warns me that my phone has been disconnected. You can imagine that this gets quite old after a dozen or so warnings.
I have unpaired my iPhone and paired it again to no avail. I have reset the iPhone and I will try again. What else should I try?
MacPro,
Mac OS X (10.5.1),
6GB RAM, 4 x 250 GB HD, Apple Extreme
I have the same problem but with the nuvi 660. It was working great before 1.1.3! What's happening is that the bluetooth on the phone is turning off by itself then comes back on and reconnects (rinse and repeat! stay on the bluetooth screen and see it happen) I tried unpairing/pairing/rebooting both the nuvi and iPhone and nada. I will try tonight with the reset and maybe reinstalling 1.1.3 if that doesn't work

The intermittent Bluetooth would explain the problem. I can't imagine that this is how Bluetooth in 1.1.3 is supposed to work. I wonder if this is a bug or merely an installation problem. In another thread someone with a headset problem recommended unpairing, resetting the iPhone, restarting the headset/nuvi, turning them back on and pairing again. I am going to try that before I do anything more drastic.
Tried all the suggestions of resetting, repairing, rebeating myself up for upgrading so soon. Think we are stuck waiting for an Apple fix. Wish I had not installed as I use my blue tooth far more than I will any of the new features.
This is not good! I use my Garmin Nuvi with my iPhone and could not be happier with the way it has performed. I have not updated yet because I have been waiting to hear things like this. Let us know if Apple comes up with a fix so I can download the update?
I thought I was the only one that had this bluetooth 1.1.3 problem. I have a Garmin Nuvi 660 and have had the very same problem you described with it disconnecting about every minute or so since I installed 1.1.3. I, too unpaired, repaired, disconnected, etc to no avail. What is Apple's response? What is the solution aside from waiting for 1.1.4 and being without bluetooth until then????
There is a chance that it's also a Garmin issue, that is, if Apple BT works fine with most other devices, so it may be of value to send Garmin a bug report also. They have made a big deal about what they are working on with Apple so there may be a fix from their end also.
I have the same problem with the Garmin c550, bluetooth connects then disconnects.
It is the phone cause I can watch the bluetooth turn on and off, also if i try to make a call from the handset while it is connected the phone app crashes, if i make a call from the Garmin while its connected it works until i end the call then goes back to "on and off" mode.
I restored my iPhone last night and reloaded my latest backup. That didn't fix the problem at all. Next I am going to try restoring and starting from scratch. Maybe that will work better.
What I am thinking I'll do is do a clean restore, no backup just a new 1.1.3 iPhone and then test the Bluetooth with the nuvi. If that works, then I'll load all my info back to the phone manually. If it doesn't I'll restore the backup and wait for a fix.
If you are registered Garmin user you can sign in and email them about this. The more folks complain the more Apple/Garmin will understand there is an issue that needs to be fixed. The queaky wheel gets the grease.
