Error processing calendar data (210)

I have problems with my iCal Server on 10.5.1. I cannot enter data to my calendar. Always get an error: Error processing calendar data (210). My error.log says

Harry,

Thanks so much for stepping in here. I suspect I have the same issue (permissions). However, after following you directions, I am still getting the 210 error when I pull up the calendar or try and make a calendar entry. I notice that there are no groups being added to /Library/CalendarServer/Documents/groups/ or users being added to /Library/CalendarServer/Documents/users.

The only thing that I can see which might be different on my system is that in
Server Admin -> Server -> File Sharing
/Library/CalendarServer/Documents, I have the following in the posix permissions

_calendar rw
admin rw
others none

Before the Owner of this directory was root, not _calendar, so I thought that I was on my way. I changed root to _calendar (with rw permissions) and changed permissions for others to r only. I checked the other points you made but it seems that calendars are still not being written.

One point more thing... If I check from the terminal I see that the group for the Documents directory is still set to admin:

sh-3.2# ls -l
total 0
drwxrwx---@ 4 _calendar admin 136 Feb 8 09:33 Documents

Could this be the problem? Instead of futzing around with Server Admin, should I just to a:

chown -R _calendar:calendar /Library/CalendarServer/Documents

which would made the owner and the group _calendar for Documents and all underlying directories?

krw - your permissions for CalendarServer should be set as follows:
owner _calendar read/write
group _calendar read/write
others Read only

For CalendarServer/Documents set permissions to
owner _calendar read/write
group _calendar read/write
others None

When groups are enabled for Web calendar in WGM all folders below Documents will show up with
owner _calendar read/write
group _calendar read only
others None

Hope this helps.

Harry,

It is working now, but the reason why is a still a bit fuzzy. I made the permission changes you recommended, but the calendar still would not allow edits or even come up without the error message. Last night at some point after multiple stops and starts of the iCal and Web service, it just started working!

Beats the heck out of me... I suspect that the iCal server functions are still a bit buggy. However, that is not going to stop me from sending a big note of appreciation to you. A far as I know, the apple engineers are still working on my ticket (you should ask for a pay raise).

I am experiencing this error only under the following circumstances:

--When creating an event initially in iCal.app on the group calendar, everything is fine.
--I then login to web calendar for said group and attempt to modify or simply edit the event I just created... I receive the error. If I create an event in web calendar I can modify it as desired.
--Events created in web calendar sync fine to the iCal.app clients who are connected to web calendar and they can modify events.

So basically only on events which iCal.app creates said event do I experience the problem.

Permissions are correct on the various directories, etc. Sadly since everything works fine in iCal I can't really get users on the webcal for this reason.

edit: Well it isn't just events that are created in iCal.app, any event that I touch from iCal.app on the group cal starts tossing out the 210 errors. Events created and modified ONLY by web calendar feature never experience the problem and still show up properly in iCal.app. The error also appears to only be cosmetic as when I make a change it does sync properly between iCal.app and web calendar but it is an annoying error 😉

Scratch that, not just cosmetic, definitely can't modify events on the group cal that were created from within iCal =/

Error that appears in wiki log is as follows:

2008-04-25 21:16:46-0700 [WebDAVProtocol, client] "Error processing data from calendar server: 'VEVENT components cannot contain both DTEND and DURATION components'"

This error only occurs on events that have been "touched" by iCal.app when accessing the group calendar.

This error code is driving my crazy too.
Like everyone else, wiki blogs work fine, it's just the calendar that do not work.
Access rights to the folders are correct, but the iCal server does NOT create the group folder.

My wiki/error.log show this.
Can anyone transulate PLEASE

Hi

OK so I've set my Owner and Group to _calendar with RW on the CalendarServer folder and the Documents folder then propagated all information to the child folders. But I'm still getting the
"Error from server: Error processing calendar data (210)" error.

Any ideas?

Cheers
B.
