"sudo: can't open /private/etc/sudoers: permission denied"

I have been running Ascentemu. Dont ask what it is, its just cool.

I compiled it myself...

Anyways, to run it I type:
sudo sh ascent.sh
sudo sh logonserver.sh

But when I do that i get:
"sudo: can't open /private/etc/sudoers: permission denied"

I repaired permissions but it did not help...
I made sure it is 0440 (read only for system and wheel)...

Please help!!

fixed my sudo problem, and my "restart loop".. thanks!

also, since doing this software doesnt loop when trying to restart, and now I can update to 10.5.2...

Excellent! Now if we could just figure out why that / permission changed to something funky.

Did you do any messing around with File Sharing in the timeframe when sudo stopped working, by any chance?

*THANK YOU* for posting this solution. I had the exact same problem, no idea what caused it or how to fix it. Booting into single user mode and typing those commands fixed things right up!
