Many of my songs are recorded from old vinyl records and I had to put the artist and album in manually. Will this information remain using your method?
I get the same error when I copied my library and files to a new computer. I treid renaming the .itl file as you suggested but it did the same thing when I re-renamed it and opened iTunes. any other ideas?
FYI, for Mac users, it's Command-A to select all, then hit Command-Delete and select "Keep Files" at the aforementioned warning. Then drag your iTunes Music folder onto your blank iTunes window, and go do something else for a few hours.
`i erased my library as suggested above and when I dropped the itunes folder in it just copied over loads of duplicates. I know there's around 4200 songs. My new library says there's 7123. Play one of the duplicates and it works fine, Delete one and they will still play as long as the deleted track is still in the trash. Empty the trash and play the track left and the old 'original file not found' comes up. i can live with these duplicates in the library, but if they are taking up double the disk space then don't want them. i'm running leopard on a new macbook.
