Whoa there Cochise, forwarding SMS messages is how you send that information to an email address
Not receiving chain mail spam junk .... you have veered off of a very important Topic
one of you said you have never received a forwarded Text or text sent to multiple people
that wasn't a spam blah blah
All jokes aside this is a HUGE limitation
So many people practically live by their SMS messages, much cheaper than phone calls
When you have SMS with valuable information such as Phone numbers address website links
important details.... it is NORMAL!!!! to forward them to email address on a NORMAL phone
but not the iPHONE!!!!
There is so many things missing from the iPhone SMS interface, but I will stick to this topic
It is not available yet, but hopefully it will be soon
In other words, normal phones allow you to get that text sent out of your phone to another
location such as your email , hence your computer , hence your address book or file organizer
etc etc etc
The only alternative to getting important information out of your iPhone is the
Neanderthal method of literally writing it down or peering at your iPhone
and re-typing the info elsewhere
OMG -- you might have to "WRITE SOMETHING DOWN" ???????
The iPhone is designed to work with eMail across the board.
In all honesty I don't expect Apple to add the forward feature. Once an SDK is released, they might have some additional functions...but even then, everything will need to be approved by Apple and will be sold by them on iTunes.
IN the meantime,l you can invest in a program like Missing Sync for iPhone and sync all your SMS messages if you want.
Yes. All software will need to be approved by Apple and available for download through iTunes at a cost. They will get most of it, and the developers will get a small royalty.
If you go back and read through the Apple Hot News topics on the day that Jobs announced there would be an SDK (it starts with something like "we want 3rd party programs on your iPhone")...it is clearly noted that it will require a Digital Signature....that means Apple approved....it then goes on to mention the Nokia model...that is a 'console' model -- i.e. Apple controls distribution.
I'm not aware of an official announcement to that effect but it does seem to be the most logical method of distribution. Since the Touch software pack and all past upgrades have been done via iTunes I can't see it going any other way.
