Motu Ultralight and Logic

Hmm,
any one else out there running Logic with a Motu Ultralite?
I am running this setup in surround and in stereo () and I
am wondering if there is any other thoughts out there about
the ins and outs and running surround.

The problem I am having is the live 'analog' out system
some times I cant tell if the sound is running through logic
or if it is just through the mixer (in a live mixing setup)

for example say I take a stereo in to my Ultralite...
hit the input monitor on in Logic...

The audio seems to pass through with nothing going though
Logic at all - no levels and the sound still passes through

If I record enable (or input enable) the signal is louder
but it seems like its mixed with the sound of the previous
(unlogified) sound.

does this make sense... It is important for me to figure out
because I want to use live to pass audio through in a live pa
dj type setting.

thnks

I see on the Motu web site..
it comes with 10 Analog outputs, so Logic should be auto-configure the Ultralite OUTs when you open a Logic surround project
You need only 5 or 7 powered monitor speakers + 1 powerd Sub Woofer with a good cables configuration.

the ultralite is confusing the heck out of me
with the main out and the analog out...

how is this interfacing with logic?

it seems as though its like this
main out 1 = out 1
main out 2 = out 2
analog out 1 = out 3
analog out 2 = out 4
analog out 3 = out 5
analog out 4 = out 6

etc. is this always the case ?

Yeah!
that it is the same as Motu 828MKII

Dudes thanks this is all very help full. Is any one using the motu for Surround Sound Mixing? I am wondering if you could enlighten us on some I/O setups.

Also for all the MOTU Ultralite Ninjas out there;

is there any difference in the levels of output of the main out 1-2
and analog outs 1-2? Please advise.

Thanks,

What I mean is, they should all be rated to be the same such as +4dB -10dB. But in reality things like this sometimes require re-calibrating sometimes, or can from the start be a TINY bit out of alignment. Like 0.1dB between outputs.

Digidesign despite their faults have always had a calibration mode for their hardware. When interfacing with other outboard especially other recorders, like a tape machine for example, it's important that all the outputs are aligned. Of course a good engineer, or someone with keen ears, can work around it, but it's best if there isn't a problem there in the first place.

In this case, I can't see this sort of difference in response being a problem, or even noticeable. I just wanted to make sure and say that there CAN be the slightest difference between outputs regardless of their rated levels.
