Contact address -> Google Maps search does not work

The contact addresses I had saved now allows integration with Google Maps but when it opens Google Maps an error message is displayed " no search results found". The same search string can be manually entred into the Google Maps search bar and the location is shown on the map, this then gives the option to create a new contact or save to an existing, I then save the same address back to the existing contact and save, I can then open this existing contact touch the imported address and it opens maps and locates as expected. This appears to be a bug as I would have assumed the search string that google maps uses is the same but the one coming from the contacts app is not used correctly. Has anybody else seen this and are there any workarounds that do not involve recreating every single contact entry!

No the 2 address strings are the same, would have assumed that the same code is used on the iphone so might take a look at that forum. The contracts were originally imported from an outlook database but this should not make any difference, I have compared the 2 address strings and both are the same. Even the contact details start to appear when I start a search from the google maps app but still return an error when search is entered.

I think it is a software bug, I tried syncing with the contacts on my Mac, I also tried syncing with my Outlook on Windows and had the same issue. I manually edited an address on my iPod Touch and even though it displayed "United States" as the country in the veiw mode, in the edit mode it said to choose a country, I selected "United States" in the drop down, and it worked with the maps program.

When I synced it again with my contacts programs it did not change any fields. For those of us who have 100+ contacts and don't want to go through edit each one on the iPod Touch and set the country, it should automatically sync with the contacts on my Mac or Outlook on my PC.

I have found that the problem exists if it is a "Home" address. I changed all my "Home" addresses to "Other" until they get a fix.

An easy way of changing Home to Other is to export your contacts as .CSV (Comma separated for Windows) Open it in Excel or another Spreadsheet, select all the Cells for the home address for all contacts, Cut and Paste into the Other address cells save and close, and import back into Outlook.

Thanks for the info and workaround, good to confirm its a software bug. I will send a bug report to the apple feedback page. Yes appears to be linked to the contact address category and country. Some Contacts I have show the country as entered in outlook, these countries are shown as correct in the Touch Contact address but when I go to edit the country field is not populated and shows "set country->", when the country is selected and saved the correct location is shown on maps! When an address shows the country and I then select other as the category the country is removed from the address? Then I still need to manually select the country in the touch edit screen to ensure that I get a map location.
