IPhone Calendar Changes not Syncing with ICal

Additions and changes to my iPhone calendar are not synced with ICal on my Mac. Syncing the other direction (adding or changing appointments on my Mac) works, but nothing I change or add on my iPhone appears on my Mac (the same seems to be true of contacts and notes). I have the same problem with an iPod touch.

Has anyone else experienced (and fixed) a similar problem? As it ism the iPhone-Mac sync only works in one direction!

I have the same problem ruing 10.5.2 with a new (24.03.08) iphone

When I try to sync ical to my iphone it lists calendars that have been deleted and multiple copies of subscribed to calendars "UK holidays" and "moon phases" even though these too have been deleted. They show up in the itunes info tab. It will sync and asks to be allowed to modify entries, listing those made on the iphone. I click allow sync to continue. But they never show up on ical on my imac.

Even if i remove the calendars folder from my library then quite and reopen ical my old deleted calendars reappear. Where do I delete these old preferences?

So the problem is two things old deleted calendars showing in the info tab and events made on iphone not showing on ical.

I have solved it! The problem was old calendars showing up in iCal and in the info tab in iTunes, iPhone syncing window. Also event created on the iPhone were not showing in iCal.

I spoke to Apple in Cork, they worked this out.

The reason for the problem is that Tiger and Leopard used different places to store iCal calendar information only clearing out BOTH and starting fresh will ensure no old calendars from Tiger get in to corrupt the new Leopard ones.

Tiger stored calendars in: Users/<Username>/Library/Application Support/ical

Leopard stores calendars in: Users/<Username>/Library/Calendars

Remove both these folders and quiet both iCal and iTunes.

Then just to be sure reset the preferences in iSync. Launch iSync>prefs>reset sync history. This may grey out as it thinks its done or not needed. This greying out happens if there are no devices listed in iSync, if so relaunch iSync and you get a short time to try again. iSync looks like its not syncing anything if you are only using .Mac and iPhone. This is because iSync previously controlled syncing .Mac but this is now in System Preferences and iphone syncing is done through iTunes in fact it iSync is still keeping a log behind the scenes, Its this log of sync history that needs to be reset.

Then open iCal and iTunes, iCal will remake the default calendars Home and Work. Which you can rename.

I had no old calendars to export and I'm not sure that bringing old ones back in will not cause problems again, for me starting fresh was the best way. If you can't then try exporting your current calendars and then do the clear out, bring them back in at the end. Hopefully they will go into the new Leopard location the old Tiger one will not be recreated.

Success!

I’ve solved the issue concerning calendar syncing one -way and all ways. It becomes clear that I had data corruption somewhere in the system. So, with that in mind I did a complete reinstall of OSX (10.5.2). I used Time Machine to backup my system. I later had to go through the process of doing a software update, but that didn’t take too long. I still have one glitch and that is with ring tones. Music for the tone does not load into ring tone area. I’m working on it. Thanks to everyone r some great suggestions in the past.
This process continues to work for me today.

Thanks for the suggestion for fixing this issue. It worked for me. I did not know I even had a problem till I had an issue with an appointment for the kids that I was suppose to do (that my wife had made) we even had talked about it, (but it was not on the phone, UHG.)

Seams to work now, hope it holds.

Thanks,
West

Wow, this actually worked!! Thank you!

REMEMBER to backup iCal first!

Steps:
1. Backup iCal (in file menu)
2. Delete the contents of these 2 folders:
Users/<Username>/Library/Application Support/ical
Users/<Username>/Library/Calendars
3. Reset Sync Data in iSync application
4. Restore iCal from Backup
5. Open iTunes and sync iPhone with "Replace Calendar Info on iPhone" box checked

Good luck!

Will this work with contacts as well? Neither calendars nor contacts are syncing back to my Mac from the iphone. I am terrified about the whole backup ical and delete everything stuff as I have so many appointments on it. And I definitely don't want to lose my contacts. I don't think these workaround things are good enough - it seems to me that there should be an update that will do this.
