iPhone 1.1.3 Bugs

I have discovered several bugs in the latest firmware on my bone stock 1.1.3 iPhone. Wonder if anyone else is seeing these as well?

1) I am finding that after the upgrade to 1.1.3 my phone is dropping a lot more calls. (traveling the same route for years and know I have good coverage) I find that quite often after about 5 to 8 min of talking on my commute to work the call will get dropped, the signal bars drop to 0 and the display show call failed. When I press end call the signal immediately returns to full strength and the phone works normally.

2) I have created a few custom ring tunes using GarageBand and transfered them to the phone without problems. However I have found that if I assign a ringtone to a specific contact that my custom ringtone only seems to work about half of the time. The other half the default tone plays when the caller with the specific tone calls. I have tested this and it seems totally random to if the default or the custom plays. Also I have tested this with the standard tones by assigning a different built in tone to a contact, and the same thing happens. I have not noticed this problem before 1.1.3. Anyone else have this problem or know a solution? I have checked my address book and for the contact has only one entry in the address book, and also the caller ID and the photo assigned to the caller, but the ring only works half the time.

3) My iPhone will create a blank home screen when ever I add a new bookmark on the phone. I have added 3 additional web bookmark icons to my main home screen (To fill it up, I think it looks nicer than the empty space) but now every time I add a new bookmark (Not a home screen link, but a simple bookmark) my phone has an empty home screen page that will stay until I reboot the phone.

Anyone seeing the same, or maybe have a fix or workaround?

I did the complete system restore, if took 30 minutes to complete and it DID NOT work. I dropped 3 out of3 calls after the restore was complete. I am going to call at&t and apple tomorrow. The more people who call and make them aware of the problem the more likely they will fix it quickly. I am starting to wonder if this on an at&t or apple issue. Everyone please complain to at&t and apple. Thanks

Ridyn,
The update came with a messed up automatic time.

Follow these steps to fix the out of order text messages:
1. Settings> General> Date & Time
2. Where it says Set Automatically turn it off
3. Find your time zone at this website. http://www.time.gov/
4. Where it says Set Date & Time, set your time the website says.

If I'm not mistaking, the iPhone's time was off by 2 minutes.

I hope this helps.

I replaced the sim card on 02/04/2008. I have dropped one call already and it was AT&T customer service who i dropped. Careful if you replace your sim card it automatically renews your contract. The customer service at AT&T corrected my contract. I will post my results tomorrow. The last step is to go to an apple store or mail back to apple for troubleshooting.

Adding to the list in hopes that Apple addresses this issue. I too am having serious problems with dropped calls. I am able to get a ring, or a couple of rings, and on some occasions a conversation going when the call suddenly drops. It takes a minute for the phone to recapture the signal so I can replace the call. This only happened after I upgraded to 1.1.3. Someone, please fix this or advise on downgrading to 1.1.2.

I have not (yet?) experienced a problem with dropped calls, but am instead experiencing crashes of Safari and iPod. For example, on the plane yesterday I created an On the Go playlist and started it in Shuffle mode. About a minute into the first song it stopped playing and crashed out back to the home screen. Safari will randomly crash as well, although it did that with 1.1.2 as well. But the iPod crashes are new.

I have done multiple hard reboots, although have not gone as far as a restore yet. Hoping these stability problems are fixed in the next release.

I drive 60 miles each way to work daily on I-84. Two of 5 days a week for the past 2 years, I dial in to a teleconference on Tuesday's and Fridays that lasts for 1 hour, about the duration of my commute.

I have NEVER had a dropped call while traveling along I-84. Now I get 5-7 dropped calls during the telecon, and they always happen in the same spots.

This would indicate that 1.1.3 has enabled an issue where an active call cannot be handed off to the next cell tower successfully.

Also important to note, immediately after updating to 1.1.3, the signal strength indicator showed a weaker signal than I'd been used to seeing ever since I had gotten the iPhone. I use the iPhone from the same spot on my couch, making and receiving calls with 3 bars ever since I got it. Immediately after updating, from the same spot on the couch, I now get "No Service" or 1 bar.

It's supposed to be a phone first and foremost; I can't afford to keep dealing with this issue any longer having to redial into a telecon 5-7 times when I never, ever had to do so in the past.

The only thing that will fix this is 1.1.4 IMHO.

Immediately after upgrading from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 I began having calls dropped, or abnormal terminations. This was verified by AT&T after a very painful 90 minute support call. They could see each of the dropped calls as they appear as abnormal termination.

I called Apple support (I got great personal support) and they arranged to have my 4GB original iPhone replaced at the local store. The new iPhone came with firmware 1.1.2. I decided to leave it at that version for a week.

I had no more dropped calls on the new iPhone with version 1.1.2, so after a week I upgraded again to 1.1.3 and immediately began experiences the exact same behavior again.

Now I am working to figure out how to downgrade to 1.1.2 any suggested links?

Apple needs to admit this bug and get a new fix out ASAP.
