Sharper Image KO 500 Bluetooth Speakers

I recently purchased KO 500 bluetooth speakers from Sharper Image. I upgraded my macbook pro to leopard as the other thread suggested, yet the speakers are still not connecting. They are paired but there is apparently no connection. What am I doing wrong? I would appreciate any help! Thank you!

I just got the same KO 500's and have tried everything, except upgrading to Leopard. Maybe that is why Sharper Image is blowing them out for $99. I knew it was too good to be true. It's unfortunate, the speakers look and feel solid. If anyone knows a sure-fire way to get them to work, other than the Leopard upgrade (which isn't guaranteed according to other posts), please send info!

How to pair your Bluetooth speakers
Step 1: Click on Bluetooth icon on top right corner.
Step 2: Pick on “Set up Bluetooth Device … click continue.
Step 3: Pick on “any device”… click continue.
Step 4: Press on “passkey options” than click on “ Use a specific passkey” … Click Ok
Step 5: Push the pairing button on K0 500. You should see the devices listed. …Continue.
Step 6: Enter a passkey : 0000 (Continue)
Step 7: Follow the on screen .. it should set as a headphone device. Than continue and quite.
Step 8: Do step 1 and select “KO 500” Now select ( Use headphone) Your Done!
Have fun!

Thanks to this forum for posting...I bought these speakers on Amazon and had to upgrade my imac to Leopard and have downloaded all the updates to be up to speed with 10.5.2. The main thing was to hold that syncing button 3 seconds on the speakers so the computer could find it. The sound isn't perfect perfect...there is some ruffness, some hisses and staticy noises, but to do what it does for the price isn't to shabby and quite intriguing. It's was a good step in not blowing out the internal speakers and being able to play music in a whole other room. I'm literally having a blast! Thanks for all the support! When anybody finds better bluetooth speakers in the next 2 years holler!

Follow-up:

I found out from a friend of mine (a former Apple Genius) that the version of Bluetooth in the internal chip of my laptop does not support the new Bluetooth format for sending audio signals. I tried using the dongle that comes with the speakers and they work perfectly. It is a pain to have to keep up with the dongle but for the price of the speakers, it seems worth it.

I bought the speakers 60% off from a store going out of business as well.
I have followed all the tips on this forum & I have the speakers configured but they won't connect. I've held the button down and still nothing. Has anyone had success using the Jack audio sever? I get nothing when I try all the other methods. I don't want to upgrade to leopard only for this. Anyone please help.

hi the steps in order to pair these speaker correctly is this. first intall te usb bluetooth that comes with the speakers(the drivers also, dont know much about mac, sorry). then pair the speakers if you have more than one bluetooth adapter install on your mac use the one that came with the speakers. after that go to bluetooth connections go devices click on KO 500 select services check auido sync. after the connection is done, go to audio playback devices(in order for the speakers to work u have to have them set to default audio output) menaing that were all the audio is gonna go out. one more thing if you have a program open before you put the speakers as a default sound they wont work. u have to start that program again in order for the change of audioo to be apply.

also you have to regulate the audio in the speaker the mac will only be able to as high as the volume in the speakers let it go. so if you want the loudest go to the speakers and put the volume up. they should have some kick on the max vl.

well thats all i have to say i hope it helps. gook luck.
also if there is someone willing to sell this speakers reply to this message im intereted on buying two more sets. thank you.
