How do you delete/wipe your bookmarks off your iPod Touch? I synced all of my Safari Bookmarks to my iPod Touch, but I've changed my mind. I don't want my bookmarks on my iPod Touch anymore. I can't find any obvious way of deleting or removing them, which seems like a massive design flaw.
17" iMac 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB Hard Drive,
Mac OS X (10.5.1)
That works for folders WITHIN the 2 folders I want to delete. Basically, when I click on my Bookmarks button in Safari on my iPod Touch, I have 3 folders: History, Bookmarks Bar and Bookmarks Menu. I can see no way of deleting the last 2. They appear to be stuck on my iPod Touch 😟
Yeah they are 2 folders that "normal" Safari doesn't let you delete, so for some reason Mobile Safari doesn't either, even though it has no use for them
aye this really stinks IMHO, I hate having these 2 folders there all the time. You are limited in the viewing space of bookmarks so losing space to these 2 is very annoying. Only way to get rid of that I know is to full reset and reload and do not ever sync with your desktop.
Export/backup all of your Safari/Internet Explorer bookmarks (depending on where you're syncing them from) and keep them is a safe place. Then delete
all bookmarks/folders from your browser. Now sync your bookmarks with the touch but be sure to checkmark the "overwrite all bookmarks" (or whatever it's called) option. After syncing, import your bookmarks back into your browser from your bookmarks backup. Note that after importing them back in, they will likely be in alphabetical order rather than the date added order. I have not tried this but it just
may work.
I tried that - in fact I even opened up the Bookmarks.plist file in the library and deleted those 2 folder entries! No luck, I think once they are on the Touch they are protected. Maybe in the future we can delete them. I noticed if you sync your bookmarks with .mac you have the same problem via the .mac web bookmarks.
Great solution, but the other guy tried it and said it didn't work. So, seems Apple have another bug on their hands here. I wish there was some warning before I tried syncing my Bookmarks telling me I would be left with 2 undeletable folders.
