What they mean is by calling GPGMail a 'complete hack' is that it uses unsupported features of Mail.app to make PGP integrate into the application. Since it is not officially supported by apple it could theoretically break if apple updates Mail.app. It does
not mean that the quality or security of GPGMail is questionable or poorly designed.
I think its too bad that they characterize GPGMail that way on its web site, as the many connotations of 'hack' are somewhat confusing.
