Convert 720x576 (PAL) to 720x608

Does anyone know anything about using a 720x608 frame size for a broadcast digital master, and how to convert a standard 720x576 PAL project correctly to this size?

At this point, I don't know whether to just stretch my final 720x576 to this size, or whether it has to be positioned at a certain point or centered in the 720x608. And neither does my client. I've asked my client to find out more, but in the meantime I'm curious.

Denis, you sure they said "720x608 broadcast digital master"? Never heard of those dimensions before either, and they sound nothing LIKE a standard PAL size.

Here are the specs:
I note they say they accept 720x576 (standard PAL SD), but I'm still curious about this 608 line version...

Just a guess from the other side of the pond, but does that include blanking lines between frames?

You could be on to something there... they do want VITC, which goes in the blanking lines, right?

But what exactly are blanking lines anyway? 🙂

I know I can just submit the 720x576, but I want to learn, and to do it right, perfectionist that I am...

I'll be using Episode to encode the MPEG-2 master. Not sure when and where to add these extra lines.

Blanking lines, as in-- the actress wailed "I forgot my blanking lines!"

Essentially, they are blank video lines between frames. The visible frames are 720x576 PAL, but that's not all there is on the tape. I'm at the bleeding edge of my non-expertise here. Perhaps a better brain will chime in.
