For a long time, I've successfully created DVD's using IMovie. I burned onto DVD's using the Share tab on IMOVIE. This opens IDVD and then I go through a process which prompts the DVD to be burned. Suddenly, when it's done, It SAYS "burning is complete" but several of the things that happen when it's working right do not happen, for one it is not ejecting the DVD upon completion, nor is there anything on the DVD. I restarted the computer and am using a new DVD, tossed out the old (empty) DVD. What could be causing this? Thank you if you can help! Jlewis0001
It could be a problem with iDVD, your burner or with your media.
To make sure iDVD is working correctly, create a disk image file out of iDVD (an option under FILE). If this works and you can play the disk image file with Apple's DVD Player application, iDVD has done it's job. If this DOESN'T work, you may have problems with your content.
To see if your DVD burner is working, insert a blank DVD and let it mount on your desktop. Drag some files on the DVD disc icon and drag the disc icon over the trash can icon (which will change to the burn button). If this doesn't work, you may want to try a DVD cleaning disc to see if you have some lint over the drive optical system lens.
Do I need to put some images on the IDVD front page 1st to create a disk image file out of iDVD (an option under FILE)? IF i do, what type of file should i put on the opened Theme page? just a photo or something?
If not, I just went to "Save as Disc Image" in File menu and Error in project came up "There were errors during the project validation. These errors have to be fixed bfore burning the project" This screen prompts "Open DVD Map" or "OK"
Now I tried it with a different project which I'd burned before, To see if it was a problem with the project I was trying to burn, and it's not that. The new issue is after it's done, a screen open that says' "there were errors with burning". And then when I go to click anywhere on IDVD, it's frozen and I have to force quit. Should I still try to do that create a disc image file? I"m not clear on how to that is done. Thank you for your help.
OK. I followed your instructions and it worked. I was able to create a disc but it was not thru IMovie, it was just dragging some random video into the IDVD program. It worked that way, but will not thru IMovie. Can you advise.
Home made Sony camra downloaded Video clips, photos and then attached Itune audio clips all put together in IMovie and then click Share in top menu, IDVD opens, then go thru various editing procedures, before burning. All has worked just fine until suddenly stopped.
FWIW, I've sometimes found that it's easier to first export the material from iMovie as a QuickTime file, as "full quality" (file extension ".dv"), and then drag that into the iDVD project. This sometimes seems to clear any anomolies with the way that iMovie presents files to iDVD.
Klaus, that sounds good, but the video option is not highlighted, its gray, or inactive. i closed IMovie and followed your suggestion. Also, note, IDVD seems always to be frozen when I'm done attempting to burn as of this issue.
I am having the same problem as you only my eror message is: there was an error during rendering/encoding of the menu/slideshow burning - process aborted. Have you been able to get it working yet? I would appreciate any suggestions anyone might have. Thanks
