Hi, how can I take stills from a DVD to use as jpeg files on a digital picture frame. Also will they be furry or sharp ? What software do I need and what is the best way to proceed please.
Thank you

Yes you can with an app like SnapzproX (but you'll take a significant quality hit as in 640x480). There may be other apps as well that work better.....

thanks for the info. The quality is an issue as it is going onto a digital pic frame and is of a persons wedding. Already I find the quality of the pics is a little distorted and rough. Do you think this will be the case using Snaps? I have only done one photo download for this unit but it does say definition 480*234 RGB with a display area of 142x91 mm. What do you think the results might be?
SnapzproX works ok for me but then I still use lots of 4:3 connent as opposed to 16:9. Yes it is very low res, but then again so are most of your slides on iDvd. They amount to about a third of a megapixel. You really have to test yourself to see if this approach will work for you or not.
If it doesn't then you need to consider another more professional app for stills.
An easier way,as is suggested by the other reply, is just to play the DVD on your Mac, pause it at the scene you want then use a screen capture program to save the image. Quality will depend on the size of the window & the video resolution used. One such program is Apple's grab (in your Utilities folder) which saves as TIFF files (which you would need to convert) or you could use something like SnapNDrag (
http://www.yellowmug.com/snapndrag/) which lets you get a JPEG file.
