Screen Glass or Plastic

Is the Classic video screen made of Glass or Plastic?
If glass, I assume the unit will look like new longer than past iPods given it's metal enclosure. Thus no cover case needed. True?

I am deciding between getting a classic or 5th gen.
Sounds like there are reliability issues with the classic. I can't tell if there are more serious problems than with the 5th gen?

Anyone with both tell me which they prefer using? Why?
Or which they would buy if you had none and the choice (ignoring GB)?

The screen on all iPods are not made of glass. I believe it's a special plexiglass-like material. I definitely recommend a hard case. I personally have owned a 5th Generation iPod for almost a year and a half and it's in great condition. I purchased a hard case the same day I purchased the iPod and have only taken it off once. The case is scratched and cracked (from a accidental drop, oops) but the iPod looks like it came out of the box yesterday.

It comes down to how you are going to use the iPod. If you want to carry it with you everywhere, then a case would be a great idea. If you want to dock it in a stereo and leave it there, then a case isn't necessary.

As for preference of model. The Classic has a few additional features that the 5th Generation doesn't. Coverflow view and compatibility with iTunes Movie Rentals to mention 2.

So if you did not have the 5th gen, and had the option to acquire either in 80gb at about the same price which would you choose?

Your reply sounds as though you'd get the classic for the more features.

What about others who've experience with both?
Anyone with both care to explain why the prefer one over the other or if both satisfy equally?
