Yes, if you have the patience. (It's probably easier with QT Pro -- i.e., "Open Image Sequence" File menu option.)
I can't figure out where to start...
Start by making/creating/separating the frames and ordering them.
not to mention iMovie seems to think I'm in love with the Ken Burns effect, which I'm not and has applied it to every one of my frames. I can't remove it without doing it for each individual frame - painful!
It's a lot easier if you change your "Initial Photo Placement" option in the "Project Properties..." window from "Ken Burns" to "Fit in Frame" before adding your material to the project."
Is this because I'm not starting out with video that it doesn't show me a timeline with my stills in it?
Try expanding your "clip icons" to "0.5 second" to create a two-dimensional "pseudo" timeline.
