Newbie question: Page Layout template for 5 x 8 note card

I am trying to start using Pages '08. Many of my workflows deal with 5" x 8" note cards. I would like to setup templates for this that do not have headers or footers. Does anyone have any insite in setting up a template for this?

Thank you in advance,

Ryan

ryry,

You'll find the settings in a fairly unlikely place: File > Page Setup. Click on that, then choose Landscape mode from the Orientation selection. Click on the Paper Size menu, and select Manage Custom Sizes. Click on the plus sign to create a new page size, then put 5 inches in the width, and 8 inches in the height (I know, it seems backwards). Give your paper size an intuitive name, like 5x8 Card.

Click on File > Save As Template.

That's all there is to it.

ryry,

It's not often that I would be tempted to add anything to Dennis's expert advice, but here goes. You asked about choosing to have no Headers and Footers.

From the View Menu, select Show Layout (if you haven't already done that) so that you can see what's happening. If you have Headers and Footers selected, you should now be able to see them.

Next, in the Page Inspector > Document Tab, Document Margins pane, uncheck the Headers and Footers Check Boxes.

You can adjust your document margins to suit your 5 X 8 note cards while you're in that part of the Inspector.

jerry
