How to put songs onto cell phone using Mac Book Pro

I have been trying to put music and Photos on my *Sanyo MI* phone using my Mac Book Pro for weeks every time I do this the computer will not let me. Every time I try to add music I get a message from the phone drive that says the drive cannot be modified. My phone company said that I should be able to download songs and photos using a Mac onto my phone but they will not tell me how. I am getting so mad because the directions to the phone are useless. I know this can be done because I have no problem putting music, video, and photos onto my flash drives. The phone drive shows up on my computer just like one of my flash drives. If this cannot be done should I just download the stuff using a computer that has windows? Thanks in advance to any one who can help me.

I'm not familiar with Sanyo phones, but I know that I can drop files (photos, music) onto my Motorola RAZR via Bluetooth. Since the RAZR can use MP3s as ringtones, this is useful!

How I do it:
1. Turn on bluetooth
2. In the bluetooth menu bar menu, select "Browse device." Make sure your phone is in discoverable mode. Select the phone once it appears and click "browse"
3. I don't recall if you need to pair the phone with your Mac, but you might need to.

This will open a little window that will let you transfer files to the phone. It's certainly not the best way to go for music, but it's acceptable for camera-phone photos or ringtones...
