Logitech x-540 plug adaptor for Mac Pro?

Is there a 3-into-1 plug adapter available for the Mac Pro?

I purchased the Logitech X-540 5.1 surround sound speakers for my new machine and now find I cannot plug them in since the speaker system requires 3 plugs, and the Mac Pro only has one input.

I really don't want to get into amplifiers and wireless hookups. Heck, at this point, I don't really care about the surround sound. I just want to be able to hear my music out of something better than the tinny little stock speaker.

Help?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

I am not good with explenations but here goes, on the one side of the adapter there are 3 female connectors which should be color coded. Your speakers plugs in there, speakers connectors should also be color coded. ( black, green, organe ). On the other side are 2 female conectors ( think they are color coded aswell, white ( left ) and red ( right ), one for left and one for right ( RCA ). On the Mac the line out is a 1/8" mini jack ( female ). You are going to need a cable with a stereo 1/8" mini jack ( male ) and on the other en 2 male RCA connectors. that are going to connect to the adaptor. You can buy this cable or make it your self. To make it you are going to need a stereo 1/8" mini jack ( male ), 2 male RCA connectors and a RCA cable.

Look at the y - cable on this site :

Hope this helps.

Ah ha! Even though my adapter is different (red & white female on one end, and green female on the other), you did answer the basic question = I'll need a specialty male plug. I'll have to run up to the local Radio Shack and see if they can help with the plugs. If not, I'll jump on Amazon.

In the meantime, for the X-540 speaker set, I've plugged the green connector into the back of the computer and messed with the remote control to get a fairly decent sound. It's still not as robust as the full surround sound, but it's got bass and that's close enough sometimes for soul.

Thanks again for your help! Too bad such a rockin' machine is hobbled by a poor sound setup.
