10.5.2 & Linotype FontExplorer X

Anyone else having issues with Linotype's FontExplorer X?
Safari refuses to load certain pages when FE is running [daringfireball, pitchforkmedia, for examples.]
iPhoto wouldn't start up.

Quitting FE fixes the issue, but then of course I have to use Font Book...

I turned off extraneous fonts, cleared caches, reset safari, checked for obvious conflicts, etc.
All to no avail. Only thing that works is quitting FontExplorer, and that seems to instantly do the trick.

Thoughts?

G4 Quicksilver, G5 Dual core PowerMac, MacBook, MacPro (early '08), Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Which cashes? Coming from Suitcase, in earlier versions/Tiger, I had to remove the following folder to solve issues including not being able to start finder.

"HD"/Library/Cashes/com.apple.ATS/501 (or whatever user you are using. See "last change"-date)

(this folder is rebuildt after restart.)

To all who are having crash issues with FE, open "Console" from /Applications/Utilities (cmd-U while in Finder).

Check the LOG FILES and ~/Library/Logs tab for CrashReporter.

Locate the reports related to your crash. It's coded after the application name and crash date.

Check for the crash reason (3rd paragraph), like here:

Exception Type: EXC BADACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN PROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000008
Crashed Thread: 3

Then jump down to the thread number that crashed, like here:

Thread 3 Crashed:
0 com.apple.CoreFoundation 0x92c5817f CFURLHasDirectoryPath + 15
1 com.apple.CFNetwork 0x93f5d4bd _CFHTTPAuthenticationCreateFromResponseInternal + 3477
2 com.apple.CFNetwork 0x93f57cba _CFHTTPProtHasCredentialsForChallenge + 70
3 com.apple.CFNetwork 0x93f1fb89 performHeaderRead + 2719
4 com.apple.CFNetwork 0x93f1f056 httpReadStreamCB + 3118

From the "domain" of the libraries loaded in this thread, you'll be able to know if it's caused by an Apple supplied library, or a third party library.

Some examples:

Thread 17 Crashed:
0 com.apple.QuickTime 0x9216514a triggerChannelDrawingNotificationsOverlappingSequence + 147
1 com.apple.QuickTime 0x92154bea ICMSequenceLockBits + 124
2 com.apple.QuickTime 0x9214a5c1 ICMDeviceLoop + 1112
3 com.apple.QuickTime 0x92154871 DecompressSequenceFrameWhen + 843
4 com.apple.QuickTime 0x921a196c DecompressSequenceFrameS + 61

Thread 0 Crashed:
0 com.apple.WebCore 0x905a7681 WebCore::FontFallbackList::determinePitch(WebCore::Font const*) const + 33
1 com.apple.WebCore 0x905a7650 WebCore::Font::isFixedPitch() const + 32

That'll teach me to upgrade my OS in the middle of a huge design project. I'm an idiot.
I did the same thing, and now I think I'm an idiot too. 🙂

It's really unusual that a greatly popular application as FEX was not considered by Apple in all the beta testings for this so-called "update". This time, shame to Apple.

TO LINOTYPE: I want a bug-fixer update for tomorrow, 8 A.M. And be on time, or you're all fired! :P

Thank goodness Lino got on the update quick.
I am surprised this wasn't caught by Apple in teh beta cycle, but maybe it was and the gave Linotype a heads up. It is a quick update!
I am downloading now. Looks like their servers are getting thrashed, 'cause it's sloooow going.

Will post back later with results (as if others won't.)
