Motorola razr2 V8

Another request for apple to add the V8 to iSync. It is extremely frustrating, Motorola support don't seem particularly interested.

I just got my RAZR2 today and was shocked to find that iSync didn't work. I was able to sync my contacts by exporting them all in a vCard, and then using the Send File... in Bluetooth. So at least I don't have to type in 1000 phone numbers. I haven't tried seeing if I can do that with the calendar. I did see a reference to not using full day events to make calendar syncing work in phones that do iSync, but I haven't tried it.

This is really a very bad ( and sad ) situation. Moto has no interest to support Macs in any way and Apple is really lame in providing plugins for other vendors.
While Nokia has started to provide their own plugins, Moto is PC only and even those people have to purchase etxra Software to sync their PC.
Regarding the MOTOMAGX Platform from Motorola ( see mobiles with that platform here: http://developer.motorola.com/technologies/mobile-linux/ )none of the usual suspects ( Novamedia or Mactomster ) has provided a plugin yet for any of those devices.

Affected Phones:

MOTO Z6w, U9, A728, A780, A910, E680i, i876, VE66, A1200, A1600, Razr2 V8, ROKR E2.

If anybody sees a working Plugin for Motomagx Phones in the Wild, please reply to this thread.

I went through the same thing when I got my V9x, no iSync support, but another forum member posted a plugin for the V9, which only synced contacts but no iCal. I took it upon myself to find a solution for the V9 series including the V9x. After two days of editing the plugin with plist editor and iSync Plug-In Maker and testing with the V9x and Z9 model, I found a solution 🙂. Now my V9x is fully compatible with Leopard 10.5.5, Address Book and iCal sync just perfect with events and alarms, fully working iSync plugin.
I have the plugins for download if some is interested to try and edit for their phones, can be easily modified if the model number, the "CGMI+CGMM" string and "GMI+GMM" string is known, some phones can display this info on their settings.
Anyways, I thought of passing on my findings and success with my Razr2 V9x.

For the V9:

For the Z9:

I tested it with my friend's V8, no go, communication protocols were changed with the release of the V9.

genuino: Congratulations on your fix; good work! Unfortunately, I wouldn't know how to edit the plugin - any chance anyone can edit the plugin for V8?

However, I tried to download the plugin you provided but no go; any chance it'll be available at another site or reposted here?

Thanks for the good news; at least something's moving forward for someone. :o)

Thanks for all your effort on solving this problem. I recently purchased a RAZR2 V9x and of course encountered the incompatibility with iSync. I downloaded your plugin but found that iSync didn't like it. It's not clear to me if I need to edit the plugin or if it should work as downloaded for the V9. When the plugin is in the library and I open iSync I receive the following message:
iSync can't open because of a problem with a plug-in.
The following plug-in doesn't work with his version of iSync:
MOTOV9.phoneplugin
The version of iSync is: 3.0.2 (574.0)
Can you suggest my next step(s). Thanks again.

@genuino

Congrats on making that V9 work with isync. Unfortunately the V9 doesn't share the platform with the V8 or the other Linux devices mentioned above.
Many thanks for the hint to mira software, but it doesn't provide address book syncing. It is a communication solution, not a plugin and it does provide support for all the Linux based phones of Moto ( and many others ) so perhaps it is worth giving it a try ( two weeks Trail available at their website ).

Greetings

Hello again; sorry to disappear after your efforts to help genuino.

I checked out the link and researched the product. While it looks good enough it, unfortunately, doesn't address the issue I was hoping to resolve. I mainly want to be able to transfer the photos and video I shoot with my phone as well as switch out the music currently on it.

...sadly, this product doesn't address it.

However, my phone recently sustained some damage which seems to have killed the top part of the phone - no screen, front or back, and no speaker up top. So, I can accept a call and talk via speaker phone but can't see texts or easily navigate, say, for music. ...what will I do next? Try and repair it (is it even possible/worth it?) or replace it outright and for a phone (not the iPhone) that'll work with my mac. I'll report back if I've switched.

Hello Albert,

while this Moto Line of phones doesn't support isync it still does support Bluetooth. So if you can pair your Phone via BT with your Mac you can use transfer and receive Files via the BT Menu in Finder ( right hand side next to Airport icon ). Via this way I transfered all te vcf cards of my Address Book to a U9 and also some Ringtones.

Syncing back and forth or course would be the ideal Solution.

Genuino,

Thanks. The plug in works great for my Z9 . But would like to use bluetooth to transfer photo's and music.
Phone is paired but when phone looks to connect it says the Imac is not supported. Anyone have any ways to make this happen. I now transfer through USB thru window thru Fusion thru shared folders on my Mac. long way to get there.
