"It's been covered" they say. Covered? I have found no resolutions in this discussion. Only speculative assertions and lingering questions.
There are no resoutions other than this- blu-ray is not supported in DVD SP and no one knows when or if it will be supported. Anyone who knows what Apple is doing on the issue will not be posting answers here or anywhere else.
If you absolutely feel like you must burn a blu-ray disc, you try Encore or use one of the other applications on the PC.
If you have the answers, I'm sure we'd all be happy to hear them. The simple and unalterable fact is only one HD format was supported in DVDSP4: HD-DVD. There are two competing formats. Blu-ray is clearly set to emerge victorious in this turf war: content providers have already made that clear.
FWIW it is HD DVD not HD-DVD. blu-ray may win and if you need to make blu-ray discs right now for whatever reason, again pick up other software.
Apple sits on the Blu-ray board, yet it doesn't support the standard in DVDSP4. This is totally on-topic in this forum, though you may find it disquieting that people persist on challenging Apple for an answer. So far, no answer has been forthcoming. Vapid press releases are meaningless.
There have been no press releases on what Apple's plans are.
People use this authoring software to make a living. Clients increasingly demand Blu-ray format disks. How long is this delay going to continue?
Play it off the computer or use another application. Again if you have to make a blu-ray disc, use the other applications. The cost of Encore or a PC and whatever runs on it will be paid off after one client.
You need to take a look at the questions David S. put forth. The answer is right there.
We are all chomping at the bit to see the next thing, but it ain't happening yet. The one thing I know for sure is that Apple is run by some real bright people. If they thought there was a practical reason to release DVD SP blu-ray at this time it would be released. Also remember Apple is very tight lippped about things, they do not talk about what is coming down in the future.
