Airport Express with EPSON EPL 6200L

I have an Epson EPL 6200L laser printer and I attach it to an Airport Express.

On tiger I was able to print via bonjour without any problems, but since changing to leopard I have only been able to print the first page of any document.

To try and solve this problem, I went onto the Epson site at: http://www.epson.com.sg/epson/drivers/driver_download.htm?mode=2&catid=&productM odel=3 and downloaded the driver for OSX 10.5.

However, after installing the driver when I try to add the printer in System Preferences, it gives me the error message that "The application escpageASTool quit unexpectedly". The error report says that the file comes from /Library/Printers/EPSON/LaserPrinter/GD2/

Even when I uninstall the driver, this problem persists.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

I have an Epson AL 1100 laser printer and I attach it to an Airport Express. I have exactly the same experience with the escpageASTool application despite installing the latest Epson Leopard drivers.

This rogue app also hogs cpu time (slowing the imac to a crawl) and has to be forced to quit via activity monitor - a real annoyance.

Any ideas???

Hi.

...exactly the same problem here! Did you find a way to solve it?

I installed the Epson 6000L on my Airport Express and after a while, every print job generated a process that would occupy the processor completely . I had to kill them using activity monitor - no printing at all...
To get rid of that, I downloaded the new driver and had the same problems as you. After an uninstall (and reinstall from the Leopard CD), the problem with the escpageASTool persists.

Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,

Phillip

Hi,

same problem here but with the new time capsule. I tried to hook up an Epson EPL5700L, an Epson Stylus Photo R800 and a HP OfficeJet G85 via an USB-Hub. The only printer I could get to print is the Epson R800. The other two were found on the USB port of TC but didn't accept any print job. What makes it worse is that the sent print job slows down the system so that the blower of the MacBook operates on full speed. I also tried to update to the new Epson printer drivers which didn't result in any success. Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanx

I have a similar problem. With my new MacBook I can't print on my EPSON EPL-6200L, connected via USB to an AirPort Express base (802.11g). I send the print command and the file is shown in the print queue, but the printer doesn't print anything. With an iMac G5 and a MacBook with Tiger the printer works well. With the other MacBook I had to uninstall the drivers and reinstall a combo update + updated EPSON drivers to get the printer to work.

I have the exact problems after upgrade to Leopard.
Browsing the web and try to get a hint for possible solution.
There is a recent article describing the problem may be brought about by the bandwidth problems.

After following the sudo commands as suggested, the printer come back to work, although there is still some delay.
(please change the ip address to your AP's ip, e.g. mine is 10.0.1.1)

So far it is the only workable solution for me.
The printer I used is EPL-6200 hooked to the usb port of an airport express.
Hopefully this help!
