AutoCAD on a MacBook Pro

Forget AutoCad on a mac/bootcamp/parallels. The license breaks and Autodesk, in their absolute arrogance, won't have anything to do with you the moment you mention Mac. I purchased AC in early Jan and have had nothing but grief.

Consider Vectorworks or other native Mac Cad app.

did you ever load autoCAD on your Macbook Pro?

I am debating on getting a macbook Pro or an iMac and was told that with boot camp I shouldn't have any problems with AutoCAD. I was wondering if anyone else has tried it.

Some years ago I ran AutoCad LT on my G4 876 under Virtual PC with no problems, if a little slow. Even printing to Canon inkjet worked fine. I just went to Autodesk's website & found this: Hope that helps.

i have autocad running on parallels and windows xp pro just fine... in fact, autocad is the ONLY reason i have windows on my mac....

I am currently running Vista through Bootcamp on my SR Macbook Pro with AutoCAD 2006 installed along with Inventor 2008; both work flawlessly. I ran both through parallels and Fusion for a while, but neither ended up being very responsive. Also ran them on XP installed in bootcamp for a while and they again both ran great.

Running in Bootcamp AutoCAD is more responsive on my laptop than on the computers we have to use here at school 🙂

thanks everyone...now i just have to decide if i should get a desktop or a laptop....would like to get a big monitor...but like the portability of a laptop...big decisions 😉
