How to open winmail.dat

TNEF´s enough doesn´t work for me. It just does not open winmail.dat.
Sure, it is Leopard compatible?

I am using Leopard and, like other respondents, found that changing the .dat to .pdf worked BUT the file only opened in Preview. It did not open in Acrobat

Try renaming the file type/file extension to "PDF" and open it in Text Edit instead because it won't be recognized in Acrobat. The file will appear corrupt, but you can sort through the garbage and read toward the end and make out pertinent information. Some of it will even appear written in HTML, but it's not.

I tried changing the extension, which sort of works. I sent an email to my wife's iMac from my PC, which had several .jpg and one .pdf files attached. It shows up in Mail with a single winmail.dat file attached. I changed it to a.pdf, and it opened the pdfonly. I couldn't get the jpgs to open, even with a .jpg extesion.

First of all, why in the world would it do this? Second, how do I open them since they are mixed type, and several at once? Seems ridiculaous that a Mac does this to attachments, BTW.
