Are you using a Dashboard Stickies application, or the actual application for Stickies in your Applications folder? If the latter, is your StickiesDatabase file in your Home -> Library folder?

If you are using the Dashboard Stickies application, did you click on the white X in the black circle in its upper left corner? Because if you did, I noticed the data does not get saved. Only if you leave it open and leave Dashboard and come back to Dashboard will it stay saved. Closing out the Dashboard widget dumps its data.
I am using the actual application found in the app folder...it opens but each new stickie does not show itself on the screen...
So you have some stickies visible with content, and when you go to create a new one it doesn't show up anywhere?
No I am sorry maybe I was unclear. I have stickies in the startup folder. None are showing up on the screen and any attempts to open them is futile. Under the window pulldown menu it shows one ois open but it is not on the screen...
Thank you for your concern and quick rsponses...very kind.

If you go to Stickies's Window menu, and arrange by location on screen, and then double click on the titlebar that gets collapsed, does that make the Sticky's content visible?
That is of no help because the stickies themselves are not visible so there is no title bar to collapse....it is not simply the centent of the stickies but actually seeing no stickie on the screen at all....only that the window menu shows one is open buit where it is I cannot find.
Did you add a second display to your computer, and might it be off the existing display?
Nope and changing the size of the screen or varying screensaver has no effect either....I am perplexed.
I have the same problem of no stickie note when I use it from the application folder; it simply does not show up when I ask for a new note. However it works fine in dashboard mode. Can anyone help ?
Mary, I finally went into the Library file preferences and trashed the preferences for stickies. I then restarted the computer, the prgram creates a new stickie preference file and all is working fine. It seems sometimes those files become corrupted but this fixed it for me....let me know.
Jack, I went to the Library and trashed the StickiesDatabase and restarted.
Still the same problem, stickie does not show. Am I doing the procedure you suggested ?

It worked !. Many Thanks, Jack. I went to the wrong library file. I reread your message, and finally I got it to work. Thanks a million !
Great, glad tro be of help to someone else, I usually am here looking for it myself. I know that I have had to follow that fix a couple of times this year. Thanks for the kind response....
My Stickies and TextEdit do not function properly. The spinning beachball continues without stop when I click on Stickies or
TextEdit. I cannot enter text in T/E or bring up Stickies to my desktop. Both T/E and Stickies both worked in the past.
There are two "Stickies" on my h/d. When I try to delete either, I get the message: " Operation could not be completed because this item is owned by root." There is also a Stickies and TextEdit in "Previous System Folder"(that is currently on my desktop), that I saved to this h/d when I updated. I tried trashing(without success) the TextEdit and Stickies from the Previous System Folder, but I get the "Operation.....by root" message. Any help? Barry
