Cannot sync Mail: iPhone cancelled sync

The other day I was syncing my iPhone, and for the first time ever, this error came up:

User uploaded file

I did not cancel the sync or even touch my iPhone while I was syncing it. Any ideas or solutions?

Thanks in advance!

you got it right on the money...I was about to post what you just said...for those you have this problem..this it what you need to do

1. click off mail sync on itunes iphone options
2. click restore
3. DO NOT back up data
4. go through the restore
5. I kept "off" on the mail option when I put the music and video back (I don't know if you have to)

everything thing works perfectly now...I checked mail on edge and wifi, everything works...thanks

I haven't seen this reported before. Does the problem happen every time you try to sync, or was it just once?

The first suggestion is to restore the phone.

Other likely candidates are a bad dock or cable, low battery, or other USB devices draining power during the sync. Try connecting the iPhone directly to a port on the computer rather than a hub (if you are currently using one).

After updating to 1.1.4, I unfortunately also suffer from this problem. When syncing in iTunes, I get the error message 'iTunes cold not sync mail accounts to the iPhone "iPhone" because the iPhone canceled the sync'. If I try to launch Mail on the iPhone, I bounce back to the home screen without any further error message.

I hope this one is quickly solved!

To follow up on Nathan's questions, when an application quits unexpectedly ("crashes" in Microsoft language) it is almost always because of bad data. The data used by the mail application are the settings for mail on the "Settings" screen. The first thing I would try (after a restore) is to go into Settings/mail, note all of the settings, then delete all of the mail accounts. Then see if mail can launch. If it can, try a sync. Then let us know what happens. If it syncs OK try setting up mail accounts, one at a time.
