Upgrading Memory Mac Mini Power PC 1.42 GHz Machine
I have two sticks of 512 MB PC2-4200 memory that I pulled from a Sony Vaio and wondered about upgrading her memory to 1 GB. The memory is the exact same size as the memory that I removed from my Mac Mini Intel Core Duo model.
Memory-4-less sells 1GB DDR-333 (PC2700) for $60 and recommends this for the Power PC Mac Mini. That does not seem like much.
There are apparently two memory slots in a Mac Mini. If I put in one 1GB stick from a retailer, will that work? That is, do I need to have identical sticks of memory in the two slots instead of one stick in one slot?
Do you think the leftover memory I have, the two sticks of 512 MB PC2-4200 memory, might work in the Power PC Mac Mini? It would only save the $60 and does not seem worth the risk and hassle if I could just buy her new memory.
